MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
High School Diploma or GED Certificate.
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance.
5 years of progressive experience in electric utility and project management.
3 years of supervisory experience.
Advanced proficiency with major Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite) or accounting software.
Experience with financial reporting, budgeting, and cash flow management.
A strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and financial controls.
Project Management Certification preferred.
Valid Driver's License required (subject to motor record review).
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES AND PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES:
Improves staff effectiveness by counseling, training and recommending corrective action for employees; planning, delegating, monitoring, and appraising job tasks and results in a timely manner.
Oversees the supervision of personnel, which includes work allocation, time approval, hiring, training, orientation, and problem resolution; evaluates performance and makes recommendations for personnel actions; motivates employees to achieve peak productivity and performance.
Develops measurable performance expectations for assigned staff according to department goals and objectives.
Maintains the accuracy and completeness of the general ledger and other accounting and company records.
Manages the month-end close process, reviewing and approving journal entries, performing account reconciliations, and ensuring regulatory compliance with accounting standards like FERC, GAAP...etc.
Oversee the implementation, maintenance, and optimization of organization's Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system to streamline operations, business processes and improve efficiency. Manage ERP upgrades and data integrity, collaborating with cross-functional teams, ensuring system alignment with business goals, and training end-users.
Reviews, approves, and prepares journal entries and perform complex accounting and financial reconciliations.
Establishes, monitors, and enforces internal controls to protect company assets. Ensures all financial reporting is conducted in accordance with applicable accounting standards and regulations.
Assists with internal and external audits and tax audits, providing support and reviewing audit work papers.
Supervises and trains accounting staff, determine priorities, and provide coaching.
Works with other departments, such as Accounts Payable, Plant Accounting and Payroll, to resolve discrepancies.
Manages the configuration, integration, and overall functioning of the ERP system to ensure it meets business needs.
Assists and trains General Ledger, Plant Accounting, Budgeting staff and ensure they meet business goals.
Leads the planning, execution, and deployment of ERP system projects, including upgrades and new implementations.
Ensures data integrity, security, and compliance with relevant regulations within the ERP system.
Works with stakeholders to translate business requirements into ERP system configurations and functionalities.
Oversees system maintenance, upgrades, patching, and provide ongoing support and training to end-users.
Continuously evaluates and recommends improvements to the ERP system to enhance efficiency and align with organizational goals.
Ensures compliance with Rural Utility Services (RUS) and assist with external audits and financial objectives. Monitors and ensures adherence to the Navajo Nation, federal regulations, internal control policies and procedures, GAAP and industry practices.
Works closely with other departments, such as customer service, engineering, procurement, to resolve issues and ensure seamless operations.
Prepares special reports in response to internal and external requests in order to provide accessible data for reliable analysis, management review, research purpose and/or reporting requirements.
Achieves financial objectives by preparing and administering annual budget, presenting and justifying budget recommendations to management.
Provides administrative and technical support utility managers and customers. Ensures customer service and satisfaction.
Prepares or assists with the preparation of scheduled and/or ad hoc statistical and narrative reports; performs information gathering and analysis and/or forecasting, as specifically directed.
Maintains records in accordance with established policies and procedures and audit guidelines.
Performs other duties as assigned.
