Freight Costs Manager
The Freight Costs Manager will be a critical role in financial performance control, analysis, and reporting for primary & secondary freight across international regions and APL while ensuring accurate and timely freight invoice processing and payment.
The role also serves as the regional Transportation SME for AERA and related analytics platforms, driving data quality, user adoption, reporting capabilities and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance visibility, operational performance, and cost control.
In this role, a typical day will include:
- Be the SPOC / project lead for our freight audit / payment process with the selected provider.
- Support freight invoices process
- Oversee accuracy of the transfer of data from freight audit provider to SAP and follow-up / resolve technical issues.
- Audit freight suppliers’ invoices, approve freight payments, and perform analysis on all data collected from external and internal sources and prepare monthly ad hoc reports
- Coordinate internal teams and monitor all payments to suppliers and provide optimal support to transportation teams and resolve all supply payment issues and ensure compliance.
- Integration / onboarding additional carriers to the freight audit provider platform
- Verify financial data processed by freight audit provider, monitor the correctness of the financial postings and the rate cards of the supplier, and be the first point of contact in case of adjustments and corrections.
- Lead and coordinate weekly freight invoice overview meetings with key stakeholders: Carriers, freight audit provider, BPA, Global Transportation and Accounts payable team
- Collaborate with our procurement team for rates administration: keep up to date a list of approved carriers, centralize rates from our freight suppliers, communicate accordingly any changes to our freight audit provider, and maintain records of carriers pricing.
- Support month-end process, accruals calculation, and other required reports as needed.
- Create and maintain weekly / monthly a database for our invoices per supplier / market / service.
- Own AERA and transportation analytics capabilities, acting as the regional super user for the platform, ensuring data accuracy, users training, adoption, reporting development and continuous enhancement of analytics capabilities across the regional transportation organization.
- Perform “ad-hoc” analysis.
- Lead / support on operational transportation projects as needed.
WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO ALCON:
• About 5 years supply chain logistics experience and / or supply chain BPA / cost controller
• An experience with freight audit providers will be a solid plus
• Demonstrated successful interaction & communication with cross-functional teams and working with all levels of the organization.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously, set priorities, and work in a team with diverse cultural backgrounds.
• Demonstrated analytical skills; solution oriented with a high sense of quality, attention to detail, accuracy, efficiency, and meeting tight deadlines.
• Team player who is also able to work independently and handle conflicting priorities while maintaining consistent, quality performance standards.
• Proficiency with Excel and Supply Chain systems.
• Ability to manage complexity and simplify/standardize outcomes.
