Email Marketing Operations Specialist (Pune)

Avalara is seeking an experienced Email Marketing Operations Specialist to join our Marketing Operations team. This role owns the end-to-end operational excellence of our email and lifecycle marketing programs - from build and QA through deliverability, governance, and analytics - to drive pipeline impact at scale.

Work Location and Hours

• Pune office. Collaborate with teams across US and EMEA; occasional evening overlap.

What Your Responsibilities Will Be

• Campaign Build & Orchestration
• Translate briefs into scalable email journeys (batch, triggered, nurture, ABM) across our MAP (e.g., Marketo/Eloqua/Pardot) and CRM.
• Build assets, smart lists/segments, programs, and workflows; enforce naming, foldering, and tokens.
• Partner with stakeholders (Demand Gen, Content, Product Marketing, SDR) to operationalize briefs and SLAs.
• QA, Compliance, and Deliverability
• Own pre‑send QA: rendering, links, UTM governance, dynamic content, and personalization.
• Manage preference centers, subscription management, and consent capture to align with CAN-SPAM, GDPR, CASL, and regional policies.
• Monitor and optimize deliverability (inbox placement, sender reputation, bounce/complaint rates); manage sender domains, IP warming, DMARC/SPF/DKIM alignment.
• Data, Segmentation, and Hygiene
• Design audience logic using firmographic, behavioral, and lifecycle signals; maintain suppression/seed/allow lists.
• Testing and Optimization
• Maintain benchmarks and dashboards for volume, engagement, conversion, and pipeline contribution.
• Platform Ownership and Governance
• Be a power user and administrator for the MAP and related tools (templates, modules, snippets, preference center, integrations).
• Create and maintain playbooks, SOPs, QA checklists, and enablement for marketers and SDRs.

                 Help manage intake and prioritization with clear SLAs; proactively identify             automation opportunities

What You’ll Need To Be Successful

• 3–5+ years in email/lifecycle marketing operations within B2B SaaS or similar complex environments.
• Deep hands-on expertise with a leading MAP (Marketo preferred) and strong CRM familiarity (Salesforce); comfortable with APIs/integrations.
• Strong grasp of email deliverability, authentication (SPF/DKIM/DMARC), and regional compliance (CAN‑SPAM/GDPR/CASL).
• Demonstrated rigor in QA, documentation, and governance; ability to simplify complexity and scale best practices.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills across time zones.

Nice to Have

• Marketo Certified Expert (MCE) or similar certification.

Working knowledge of HTML/CSS for email, Litmus

Success in 6–12 Months

• Establish standardized intake, QA, and deployment workflows with >98% error-free sends.
• Improve inbox placement and engagement rates to defined benchmarks while reducing complaint/bounce rates.
• Deliver a measurable lift in nurture-sourced pipeline and velocity through testing and optimization.
• Document and enable reusable templates/modules and a living playbook for global teams.
