Job Description
The Behavioral Research Coordinator I is an integral member of the Center for Childhood Resilience (CCR) within the Pritzker Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Health and the Stanley Manne Children’s Research Institute Office of Clinical & Community Trials. This role supports multiple school-based behavioral health research studies in collaboration with principal investigators. CCR partners with schools and youth-serving organizations to develop, evaluate, and implement culturally responsive, evidence-based mental health practices that increase access and reduce mental health disparities where kids live, learn and play. Essential Functions:
1. Assists with study start-up and the preparation and maintenance of all regulatory documents required by sponsor and/or regulatory agencies.
2. Coordinates study conduct with other departments to effectively implement research projects.
3. Assists in the development, implementation and tracking of studies with minimal supervision.
4. Assists with the preparation of protocols, informed consents, modifications, renewals and other necessary documents for review by the IRB and/or sponsor.
5. Identifies and recruits eligible study participants; conducts informed consent/assent process.
6. Assists in the delivery of behavioral interventions.
7. Assists in the identification and recruitment of eligible study participants. Conducts informed consent/assent process.
8. Helps arrange behavioral study visits and provide instructions to study participants/families.
9. Attends research project meetings.
10. Abstracts data from medical records and enters medical information/data onto protocol specific case report forms, study flow sheets, and other required study forms; prepares abstracted/coded data for processing/analysis.
11. Creates and/or updates research related forms and/or source document templates.
12. Coordinates reimbursement of study participants under supervision.
13. Records data in appropriate systems including RedCap.
14. Conducts literature searches and assists with QA/QC procedures.
15. Adheres to research protocol in compliance with applicable institutional, local and federal regulations.
16. Functions as participant liaison for study questions, billing issues, etc.
17. Promotes the ethical conduct of research by actively participating in research related educational meetings/conferences (planning, presenting, etc.).
18. Performs job functions adhering to service principles with customer service focus of innovation,
service excellence and teamwork to provide the highest quality care and service to our patients.
QA/QC checks for database validity and data monitoring. Conducts simple data analysis with supervision
Tracking deadlines for grants/deliverables.
19. Other job functions as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
1. Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred. A combination of education and/or experience may be considered in lieu of the degree when the experience is directly related to the duties of the job.
2. Minimum of 2 to 4 years of experience in behavioral program or research required.
3. Knowledge of research regulations preferred.
4. Strong organizational and communication skills required.
5. Familiarity with Excel database basics.
6. Bilingual Spanish verbal and written abilities preferred.

Center for Childhood Resilience (CCR) Behavioral Research Coordinator I Specific Job Duties
1. Study Coordination & Regulatory Support
· Assist in the coordination and implementation of school- and community-based research and evaluation projects focused on children’s behavioral health, trauma-responsive practices, school safety, and systems-level mental health initiatives.
· Maintain project timelines and tracking systems to support timely completion of research milestones, deliverables, and reporting requirements.
· Coordinate meetings, prepare agendas/materials, and support communication with internal and external partners (e.g., school districts, community-based organizations, state agencies).
2. Data Collection & Participant Engagement
· Support qualitative and quantitative data collection activities, including scheduling interviews and focus groups, preparing data collection materials, and managing participant communication and follow-up.
· Assist with survey administration using platforms such as REDCap, Qualtrics, or other digital systems.
3. Data Management, Quality Assurance & Preliminary Analysis
· Maintain organized data management systems, including tracking logs and secure file structures.
· Prepare, clean, and organize quantitative datasets; conduct basic descriptive analyses under supervision.
· Support qualitative data management and analysis, including transcript preparation, coding in qualitative software (e.g., NVivo, Dedoose), and development of analytic summaries or matrices.
· Conduct QA/QC procedures to ensure data accuracy, completeness, and compliance.
4. Program Operations & Continuous Improvement Infrastructure
· Support maintenance of internal operational tracking systems (e.g., staff activity trackers, school engagement lists across initiatives) that facilitate coordination, reporting, and continuous improvement across CCR programs.
· Assist in synthesizing operational and research data to inform internal reporting and learning activities.
5. Scholarly & Grant Development Support
· Assist with preparation of research products, including reports, briefs, conference abstracts, tables, and manuscript components under supervision.
· Support grant development activities by tracking proposal components, formatting documents, and assisting with background synthesis.

$46,280.00-$75,670.40 SalaryAt Lurie Children’s, we are committed to competitive and fair compensation aligned with market rates and internal equity, reflecting individual contributions, experience, and expertise.
