This is not intended to be an exhaustive list of all duties and responsibilities required nor are all duties listed necessarily performed by any one employee so classified.Education & Experience: High School diploma or GED; specialized and/or on –the- job training in secretarial skills and personal computer skills; 1 to 2 years of related job experience, including computer experience.Equipment Used: Personal computer/mainframe computer terminal, typewriter, copy machine, facsimile machine, calculator and other general office equipment.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Considerable knowledge of accepted office practices/procedures, business English, math, spelling, vocabulary, grammar; effective verbal and written communication skills; ability to prepare effective correspondence on routine matters and to perform routine office management details without referral to or by supervisors; good typing skills required; good computer skills, including word processing, spreadsheet and document scanning applications; strong interpersonal skills to answer telephone, greet visitors, interact and cooperate with co-workers and deal effectively with all levels County employees and the general public.
Work Situations/Demands/Effort: Job requires organizing; prioritizing; accuracy and attention to detail; working with the public (bidders, vendors); flexibility in order to perform a variety of duties; performing routine, repetitive duties; working in a high-volume environment; meeting frequent deadlines. Must be available to work between 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is performed primarily in a climate-controlled office environment, which is shared with other employees and accessible to the general public.
Physical Requirements: Work is primarily sedentary; duties require climbing stairs, walking to other departments throughout the building to deliver documents and packages; travel to County buildings for inventory maintenance; frequent prolonged sitting at computer keyboard; frequent reaching, lifting of objects weighing up to 10 lbs.
