Job Summary:

The CI Portfolio Analyst turns fragmented program, roadmap, delivery, partner, supplier, customer-learning, and technical-review information into a coherent cross-program view for Atlas and the broader CI portfolio. This role maintains portfolio intelligence, synthesizes interactions and consequences across programs, develops scenarios and trend analysis, and prepares decision-ready roadmap and executive artifacts. The CI Portfolio Analyst supports the Senior Manager, Portfolio Management and Deputy Portfolio Manager by making cross-program implications visible without replacing authoritative source systems or assuming execution ownership that belongs to Product, TPMs, Mission Leads, Architecture, Engineering, Finance, Procurement, partners, or the RTE.
 

What You Will Do:

• Maintain the cross-program CI portfolio view, including active, planned, proposed, paused, stopped, and unresolved work, with clear source, ownership, milestone, and evidence context.
• Synthesize portfolio roadmaps across Atlas and the broader CI remit, identifying program interactions, sequencing implications, shared capabilities, dependencies, gaps, and decision points.
• Prepare concise executive portfolio artifacts that translate complex roadmap, delivery, capacity, risk, dependency, partner, supplier, and customer-learning information into clear implications and decisions.
• Produce portfolio scenarios, trend analysis, and decision-impact views to support prioritization and start-stop-continue-defer recommendations.
• Analyze how partner, supplier, procurement, customer-learning, demonstration, and technical-review outcomes affect portfolio milestones, roadmap choices, risks, and executive commitments.
• Support integrated roadmap governance by maintaining traceability among Objectives, Customer Market Requirements, Epics, Features, Milestones, dependencies, baselines, forecasts, evidence, and controlled changes.
• Help drive Intake alignment on value, capacity, affordability, and cross-program consequence analysis for incoming demand and portfolio tradeoffs.
• Identify conflicting, incomplete, stale, or unsupported portfolio claims and preserve source differences until accountable owners resolve them.
• Develop reusable analytical methods and portfolio to improve the consistency, traceability, and usefulness of executive reporting.
• Support leadership reviews with clear fact patterns, options, consequences, open assumptions, and recommended areas for decision or deeper validation.

What You Will Have:

• Planning: Tactical and Strategic: Knowledge of effective planning techniques and the ability to connect near-term program activity with multi-year roadmaps, milestones, dependencies, capacity, and business objectives.
• Program and Portfolio Analysis: Ability to organize and interpret information across multiple complex digital programs, technical domains, workstreams, and source systems.
• Decision Making and Critical Thinking: Ability to evaluate incomplete or conflicting information, distinguish fact from assumption, identify consequences, and frame decision-relevant options.
• Data Analysis and Reporting: Ability to synthesize qualitative and quantitative information into credible trends, scenarios, executive insights, and fit-for-purpose reporting products.
• Project and Portfolio Management: Knowledge of roadmap, milestone, dependency, RAID, change-control, governance, and benefits or value concepts used across complex portfolios.
• Stakeholder Management: Ability to work across Product, Engineering, Architecture, Finance, Procurement, suppliers, partners, and program leadership without direct authority.
• Written and Visual Communication: Ability to produce concise, structured, traceable, and executive-ready narratives, roadmaps, tables, and presentation materials.
• Organizational and Systems Thinking: Ability to recognize interactions across programs and control surfaces, identify downstream effects, and avoid creating duplicate or disconnected reporting systems.

Top Candidates Will Have:

• Experience performing portfolio, program, strategy, roadmap, business, or decision-support analysis across multiple technical programs or interdependent workstreams.
• Demonstrated ability to synthesize roadmap, milestone, capacity, risk, dependency, partner, supplier, and delivery information into clear cross-program implications.
• Experience preparing executive portfolio reviews, scenarios, recommendations, and visual artifacts that support decisions rather than only summarize status.
• Ability to preserve traceability to authoritative sources while identifying inconsistencies, gaps, assumptions, and unresolved ownership.
• Experience with digital, autonomy, AI, connected-machine, software/platform, industrial technology, or similarly complex technical environments.
• Working knowledge of Azure DevOps, Power BI, Microsoft Project, Excel, PowerPoint, Confluence, PPM, or comparable planning and reporting tools.
• Experience with roadmap synthesis, portfolio trend analysis, prioritization scenarios, partner or supplier consequence analysis, or customer-learning integration.
• Strong analytical judgment, attention to detail, written communication, and the ability to move comfortably between working-team evidence and executive-level implications.
• Ability to operate within clear accountability boundaries: the analyst integrates and interprets evidence but does not manufacture status, approve technical content, own source data, or operate the integrated execution plan.

Additional Details:

• This position requires the candidate to work full-time onsite at the Irving, TX office (Dallas)

Summary Pay Range:

$128,470.00 - $192,710.00

Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
