What we want
The Department of Kinesiology and Sport Management is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Research Associate to perform independent research activities. This role requires an advanced level of knowledge in a field of science or learning and consistent use of discretion and judgement. This individual will operate research equipment, help prepare scientific manuscripts and proposals for funding agencies, and train students and other lab/field personnel in research.

Qualifications
Required Education and Experience
BS in biomechanics, engineering, kinesiology, physiology, or a related discipline.
Minimum 2 years of experience in biomechanics or motion analysis laboratory.
Experience with human motion capture equipment and analysis software.
Ability to work without supervision and prioritize a multitask workload.
Excellent organizational and planning skills to handle multiple, time-sensitive responsibilities, set priorities independently, and meet deadlines.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to maintain confidentiality.
Preferred Qualifications
MS degree in biomechanics, engineering, kinesiology, physiology, or a related discipline.
Experience with the Motek Medical GRAIL system and/or D-Flow.
Experience using electromyography.
Experience using ultrasound.
Experience conducting biomechanical and/or statistical analyses in a computational scripting language (MATLAB, Python, R).
Experience trouble-shooting research equipment and software.
Experience writing standardized operating procedures and lab documentation.
Recent and relevant clinical and translational research experience.
Evidence of successful collaboration in a professional setting.
Skill in using Microsoft Office or other software to prepare manuscripts, internal review board submissions, and grant proposals.
Strong interest in helping to train other researchers and scientists.
Strong interest in decimating and increasing knowledge of human neuromusculoskeletal form and function to improve performance and mobility.

Essential Duties/Tasks
Research
Designs, plans, conducts, and coordinates rigorous experiments as part of an interdisciplinary team in support of various research projects.
Installs, operates, and/or repairs research equipment (3D motion capture, force plates, electromyography, ultrasound, dynamometers, etc).
Perform data analysis, statistical analysis, and technical evaluation of research experiments and results (e.g., Visual 3D, MATLAB, R).
Prepares and updates standardized operating procedures for lab equipment and software.
Writes and maintains human subjects research compliance documents
Assists with participant recruitment and scheduling.
Evaluates and summarizes experiment results.
Training
Trains undergraduate and/or graduate students and other laboratory, technical, or field staff involved in research.
Research Publications
Utilizes summarized results in scientific and/or clientele-oriented publications.
Assists with writing scientific conference abstracts, scientific manuscripts, and proposals to funding agencies.
