Responsibilities
Position Summary:
This candidate will help manage and support the Company’s extensive real estate portfolio focusing on development projects, acquisitions, dispositions, financing and commercial leasing.
Position Responsibilities:
- Assist real estate and business leaders with negotiating and drafting:
- Construction contracts
- Financing Agreements
- Letters of intent
- Purchase and sale agreements
- Leases
- Other pertinent real estate documentation
- Draft and negotiate commercial contracts, including professional services agreements and master service agreements
- Draft and negotiate financing documents, including credit agreements, notes and mortgages
- Serve as a strategic resource for business leaders; providing insight and input on real estate contractual terms, property management issues, and current regulations.
- Travel – up to 10%
- Other projects or duties as assigned
Qualifications
Required Education and Experience:
- Juris Doctorate (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school, with a strong academic record with 4 to 6 years of experience as a real estate or corporate attorney
- Admission to a U.S. state bar with an active license, and compliance with requirements for in-house practice in the State of Illinois
- Strong ethical background and commitment to integrity
- Ability to build strong working relationships with internal stakeholders and external counterparties through clear communication and sound judgment.
- Operate with a high degree of independence while collaborating effectively within the legal team.
