At Making Waves Academy, we don't just play the game—we build the future. Our athletic programs are designed to inspire leadership, foster teamwork, and drive academic excellence. As a Head Coach, you will be at the center of this mission, transforming potential into performance and shaping the next generation of student-athletes. You’ll create a competitive yet deeply supportive environment where sportsmanship and character matter just as much as the scoreboard.

If you're ready to lead with purpose and make a lasting impact on our community, let’s win together!

What you’ll be doing...

As our Head Coach, you will mentor student-athletes, manage game-day logistics, and collaborate with the Athletic Director to ensure a seamless, high-impact athletic experience.

  • Design and execute dynamic practice plans focused on fundamental skills, strategy, and conditioning.

  • Provide clear, constructive feedback to unlock individual and team performance.

  • Adapt your coaching style to meet diverse learning styles and skill levels.

  • Lead the team during games, modeling flawless sportsmanship and positive behavior for players, officials, and fans.

  • Supervise and align junior varsity (JV) and assistant coaches with overall program goals.

  • Partner with the Athletic Director to manage league schedules, equipment, uniforms, and facility prep.

  • Foster a supportive team culture rooted in respect, discipline, and academic achievement.

What we’re looking for...

  • High school diploma / GED and 3+ years of high school coaching experience OR experience coaching community youth sports OR prior participation in organized competitive athletics (high school level or above).

  • CIF-approved coaching education certificate. Current First Aid & CPR / AED certification.

  • Ability to lift and move team equipment bags, water coolers, and training gear (up to 40 lbs); agility to move quickly across gyms, turf, and fields; and stamina to sustain high energy during outdoor afternoon practices and evening games.

  • Ability to pass a criminal background check via Live Scan (fingerprints) and a standard Tuberculosis (TB) screen.
