Summary
The Production Operative reports directly to the Production Manager ensuring the mill runs at optimized efficiency throughput whilst maintaining the company quality standards and UFAS requirements. To ensure that a high level of Health & Safety and hygiene is adhered to at all times throughout the mill. Deputizes for the Production Supervisor when required and ensuring the production plan is on time to the targeted efficiency whilst maintaining high quality of product. Additional responsibility will include warehouse duties i.e. Packing & warehouse hygiene and when required night loading of vehicles ,CLR, assisting and supporting shift Engineer during breakdowns and planned maintenance and other duties within reasonable request , in a safe and legal manner and to the correct quality standards and UFAS requirements.
Purpose of the Job
- Communicate to Colleagues and other departments if there are any issues is achieving the plan
- Ensure Environmental management system is followed and adhered to complying with BS EN ISO 14001/50001
- Ensure their shift is maintained to high level of H&S , and any issues are communicated in a timely manner and actions completed
- Maintain site processes/standard in line with the UFAS code of practice
- Participate in the Tier accountability process and update the daily vis board
- To ensure that the working area is maintained to an acceptable standard of Hygiene throughout shift
- Run the intake/grinding/blending/pelleting/packing and loading processes in an efficient manner to deliver the production plan on time
- Communicate all issue/delays against the plan to colleagues and other departments
- Proactively reduce any areas that actively are generating waste
- Maintain the routine machine maintenance and cleaning schedules
- Optimise utilisation of finished product bin space
- Cover all process roles during holidays and/or any other form of absence
- Lead and support the team with all processes and additional tasks.
- Deputise for the Supervisor when required
- Deliver the production plan to the required time line.
- Ensure that the machines and systems placed under their control are run to optimise performance
- Utilise the DSL system to drive improvements in efficiency
- To ensure that the mill is maintained to an acceptable standard of Hygiene throughout shift
- Lead and manage 5S process
- Work with Shift Engineer when requested in planning downtime and equipment maintenance.
- Able to assist with maintenance and CMMS
