About the program

The Dubbo Medicare Mental Health Centre (MMHC), supported by Western NSW Primary Health Network through the Australian Government’s PHN Program, is a free, safe and welcoming service where community members can access mental health advice, supports and services. No appointment or referral is required, and walk-ins are always welcome.

About the opportunity

As a Community Engagement Worker with Wellways, you’ll help ensure the Dubbo MMHC is community-driven, inclusive and responsive to local needs. Your work will strengthen wellbeing, build partnerships and create opportunities for individuals, families and communities to connect and thrive.

In this role, you will:

  • Empower communities to support one another in maintaining social and emotional wellbeing
  • Establish referral pathways with health, social and community services
  • Facilitate initiatives that promote inclusion and build capacity for stronger, healthier communities
  • Ensure community voice and needs are at the centre of MMHC services

What You’ll Bring

  • Certificate IV in Social Science/Community Development (or relevant experience)
  • Understanding of community development principles and mental health recovery
  • Experience working in human services, community development, or related sectors
  • Skills in partnership-building, social inclusion and person-centred practice
  • Strong organisational skills and ability to work independently

Required Compliance

  • Right to work within Australia
  • 100 points of identification
  • Current valid Driver’s Licence and the ability to undertake some travel
  • Satisfactory National Police Records Check
  • NDIS Worker Orientation Module Certificate
  • NDIS Worker Screening Check
  • Working with Children's Check (Employee)
