About the role
We're looking for a software engineer with a strong backend focus who wants to own things end to end.
You'll join the Stance team to design, build and run the services behind At-Bay Stance, our unified security platform, which is used by 10,000+ users at small and mid-sized businesses.
You'll own systems in production: shaping their architecture, shipping new capabilities into a live system, and keeping them healthy at scale.
Responsibilities
- Own services end to end: design, build, deploy and operate backend services, and be the go-to person for the ones you own.
- Drive design and architecture: write design docs, weigh trade-offs, and shape how our microservices, data and events fit together.
- Ship into a live system: introduce new capabilities and integrations into production safely, using feature flags, gradual rollouts and backward-compatible changes.
- Write quality code: well-tested, organized and robust code that supports a fast-growing organization.
- Solve hard problems: tackle complex engineering challenges on systems that are critical to the company.
- Work in a modern environment: continuously integrated and deployed code on cloud infrastructure.
- Build for real users: work on user-facing features where latency, correctness and a smooth experience matter.
- Monitor and debug at scale: own observability for your services (logs, metrics, traces, alerts) and trace issues across distributed, event-driven flows.
- Take part in on-call: respond quickly to production issues, find root causes, and fix them for good.
- Work across the product: work closely with product managers, designers, QA experts, architects and experienced developers, communicate openly across our international teams, and step into React code when a feature needs it.
Requirements
- 5+ years of hands-on backend engineering in Python (preferred).
- Experience with event-driven architecture: SNS/SQS, Dapr, Kafka or similar.
- Proven ownership of production systems: you've designed, shipped and operated services that real users depend on.
- Strong system design and architecture skills: microservices, RESTful APIs, data modeling.
- Experience building and running user-facing applications at scale.
- Hands-on production monitoring and debugging: logs, metrics, distributed tracing, alerting (e.g. Grafana, Sentry, Datadog or similar).
- Experience with relational databases such as MySQL or PostgreSQL, including query performance.
- Experience with cloud production environments (AWS), Docker and Kubernetes.
- A learning mindset: you pick up new tools, domains and codebases quickly, including frontend code when needed.
- Excellent communication in Hebrew and English.
Nice to have
- Frontend experience with React is a bonus.
- Workflow orchestration (Orkes/Conductor, Temporal or similar).
- Knowledge of cyber security or networking.
- NoSQL databases such as Elasticsearch, DynamoDB or MongoDB.
- Experience leading technical initiatives or mentoring other engineers.
What you'll get
- Competitive salary in a hyper-growth company redefining commercial insurance.
- A strong emphasis on work-life balance: Hybrid model, Wellness days, and more.
- Beautiful offices in Azrieli Sarona, Tel Aviv, steps away from train and bus lines.
- A collaborative, fun, and passionate team that loves solving tough problems together.
Location: Azrieli Sarona, Tel Aviv, Israel (hybrid)
