GSK remains committed to achieving bold commercial ambitions for the future. By 2031, we aim to deliver £40 billion in annual sales, leveraging our existing strong performance momentum to significantly increase our positive impact on the health of billions of patients globally. Our Ahead Together strategy is centred on early intervention to prevent and alter the course of disease, thereby protecting people and supporting healthcare systems.
Our diverse portfolio consists of vaccines, specialty medicines, and general medicines.
Through continuous innovation and a dedicated focus on scientific and technical excellence, we strive to develop and launch new, groundbreaking treatments that address critical health challenges.
Job Purpose
The Portfolio Value Realisation Manager ensures that the investments DPTF makes deliver measurable business value. The role operates the value framework. It defines how benefits are identified, baselined, measured and reported, ensures every funded initiative has a named benefit owner and a measurement schedule, and tracks realised outcomes against what was committed at the point of funding.
Benefit ownership sits with platform and product domain leadership. This role defines the method, secures the inputs, reports the position, and coaches and challenges benefit owners against the value they committed to. It works closely with the Investment & Portfolio Manager so that measurable outcomes are defined before funding, with the Technology Performance Manager so that value and performance are read together, and with Finance so that reported value reconciles with the financial picture.
Key Responsibilities
• Operate the DPTF value framework, defining how benefits are identified, baselined, measured and reported across the portfolio.
• Ensure every funded initiative has a benefit baseline, a named benefit owner in the domain, a measurement schedule and an agreed tracking method before funding is released.
• Define the value KPIs and benefit OKRs against which investments and programmes are assessed, distinct from the delivery and service metrics owned by Technology Performance Management.
• Measure and report realized business outcomes against committed benefits, capturing emergent value as well as variance to the original business case, and recommend the holding or release of funding tranches at stage-gates on the basis of realized value.
• Track benefit delivery through and beyond initiative closure, so that value continues to be measured once delivery has finished.
• Coach and challenge benefit owners in the platform and product domains against the value they committed to, holding them to it through evidence and transparency rather than direct authority.
• Partner with the Investment & Portfolio Manager so that measurable outcomes and benefit profiles are defined at business case stage, not added once delivery is under way.
• Provide value-based insight into portfolio prioritisation and re-prioritisation decisions, including where committed benefits are not being realised.
• Work with Finance and Business Operations to reconcile claimed benefit against the financial position, so that value reporting withstands scrutiny.
• Set the value measurement standards that federated Domain Portfolio Managers apply, so benefit data is consistent and comparable across domains.
• Build value management capability across DPTF through guidance, templates and coaching, so that benefit ownership becomes embedded in the domains over time.
• Use AI and analytics to accelerate benefit measurement, variance analysis and value reporting.
Experience Required
• Typically 6-8 years in value or benefits management, portfolio management, investment planning, or business analysis roles within technology or digital functions.
• Experience defining benefit baselines, measurement schedules and tracking methods across a portfolio of investments.
• Demonstrated experience measuring and reporting realised outcomes against committed benefits, including where results fall short.
• Experience defining KPIs and OKRs linked to business value rather than delivery activity.
• Experience working with Finance to reconcile claimed benefit against the financial position.
• Experience building capability in others through guidance, templates and coaching for benefit owners.
• Familiarity with portfolio tooling and with AI-enabled analytics applied to benefit measurement and reporting.
Skills/Background
List any licenses, certificates, registrations, or any relevant job skill or abilities not covered in Educational Background or Job-Related Experience sections above that are required for the job.
• Strong analytical and financial literacy, able to interpret benefit, cost and value data and test whether claimed value is real.
• Excellent communication skills, able to report an uncomfortable value position clearly and without apportioning blame.
• Ability to coach and challenge senior stakeholders constructively and without formal authority.
• Well organised, able to run recurring measurement cycles across a large portfolio.
• Comfort operating where practice is immature and the method is still being established.
