Position Summary:
The Corporate HR Lead serves as a company-wide resource for complex employee relations, employment practices, and HR compliance matters. This role provides guidance on sensitive employee issues, investigations, disciplinary actions, terminations, leave and accommodations, and other matters requiring elevated HR review.
The Corporate HR Lead also serves as the primary HR contact for EPLI matters, coordinating claims, documentation, and communication with insurance carriers, Employer’s Council, legal counsel, and company leadership.
Working with HR and Operations leadership, this role helps ensure complex employee matters are handled consistently, appropriately documented, and aligned with company policy.
Primary Responsibilities and Duties
- Lead or provide HR guidance on complex employee-relations matters, including workplace complaints, investigations, disciplinary actions, performance concerns, and terminations
- Assess employee-relations matters for potential employment-practices risk and coordinate appropriate internal or external support when needed
- Serve as the primary HR contact for EPLI claims and related matters, including claim intake, documentation, information gathering, response coordination, and ongoing communication
- Coordinate with EPLI carriers, Employer's Council, legal counsel, and company leadership regarding employment-related claims and higher-risk employee matters
- Maintain organized, confidential documentation related to investigations, claims, disciplinary matters, and other sensitive employee issues
- Provide HR guidance regarding FMLA, state leave programs, ADA/accommodation matters, and other complex leave situations
- Support company-wide HR compliance, including I-9/E-Verify oversight, employment documentation, policy administration, and recordkeeping requirements
- Partner with Operations leaders and HR team members to ensure HR policies and practices are applied consistently across locations
- Serve as a resource to regional HR administrative support when issues require interpretation, judgment, escalation, or additional HR expertise
- Identify recurring employee-relations or compliance concerns and recommend process, policy, training, or documentation improvements
- Support HR audits, policy updates, compliance initiatives, and other company-wide HR projects as needed
Qualifications and Requirements
- 5+ years of progressive Human Resources experience, with significant experience in employee relations and HR compliance (required)
- Experience conducting workplace investigations and managing complex or sensitive employee matters (required)
- Working knowledge of federal and state employment laws and HR compliance requirements (required)
- Experience supporting disciplinary actions, terminations, leave/accommodation matters, and other higher-risk employment decisions (required)
- Strong documentation, communication, and organizational skills with the ability to manage confidential and sensitive information (required)
- Ability to exercise sound judgment, evaluate risk, and provide practical HR guidance to employees and leaders (required)
- Ability to support employees and operations across multiple locations and work collaboratively with HR, Operations, and company leadership (required)
- SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, SPHR, or similar HR certification (preferred)
- Experience managing EPLI claims or coordinating with insurance carriers, employment counsel, or external HR/legal resources (preferred)
- Experience supporting HR in industrial, construction, oil & gas, transportation, or another field-based environment (preferred)
- Bilingual English/Spanish a plus (preferred)
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
- Frequently operates a computer and other standard office equipment.
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position for extended periods while working in an office environment.
- Frequently communicates with employees, candidates, supervisors, and other team members in person, by phone, and electronically.
- Occasionally required to stand, walk, bend, reach, and lift or carry items weighing up to 25 pounds.
- Work is primarily performed in an office environment; occasional travel to other company locations, project sites, fabrication facilities, or customer locations may be required. Periodic travel between company locations and occasional visits to project sites, fabrication facilities or customer locations may be required.
Compensation and Benefits:
Salary: $80,000 to $88,000 annually depending on experience and qualifications
Overtime: Not eligible
