Plant/Process Operator
Location: Hinkley, CA
About the opportunity
Turner Staffing Group is partnered with an established quarry operation in Hinkley, CA, and is seeking a Plant/Process Operator to join their team. This is a hands-on role for someone who takes pride in keeping a plant running safely and efficiently and wants steady work with a reliable operation.
What you'll do
- Operate and monitor crushing, screening, and conveying equipment to produce aggregate to required specifications.
- Start up, run, and shut down plant equipment following safe operating procedures.
- Monitor material flow, adjust settings, and make corrections to maintain production rates and product quality.
- Identify and clear jams, blockages, and spillage around crushers, screens, and conveyors.
- Perform routine inspections, lubrication, and basic preventive maintenance on plant equipment.
- Report mechanical issues and assist maintenance personnel with repairs as needed.
- Complete pre-shift workplace exams and maintain accurate production and equipment logs.
- Keep work areas clean and organized, including housekeeping around belts and walkways.
- Follow all MSHA regulations and site safety policies, including lockout/tagout procedures.
- Communicate with the plant supervisor, loader operators, and other crew members to coordinate production.
What we're looking for
- [1–2+] years of experience operating a crushing, screening, or processing plant in an aggregate, quarry, mining, or similar heavy industrial setting.
- Working knowledge of crushers, screens, conveyors, and related plant equipment.
- Mechanical aptitude and the ability to troubleshoot equipment problems.
- Strong commitment to safety and the ability to follow procedures consistently.
- Reliable attendance and willingness to work overtime, weekends, or extended shifts as production requires.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation to the Hinkley site.
Preferred qualifications
- Current MSHA Part 46 training.
- Experience with plant control systems or PLC-operated equipment.
- Loader or heavy equipment operating experience.
- Basic welding or maintenance skills.
Physical requirements and work environment
- Work outdoors in desert conditions, including extreme summer heat, wind, and dust.
- Ability to stand, walk, and climb stairs and ladders for extended periods.
- Ability to lift up to [50] pounds regularly.
- Work around heavy machinery, loud noise, and moving equipment while wearing required PPE.
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen, physical, and background check.
