Description
The Inside Sales Representative plays an important role in supporting business growth by providing responsive customer service, developing customer relationships, and identifying opportunities to generate new and repeat business.
This is an entry-level opportunity for someone who is willing to learn, willing to put in the work, and interested in developing a career in sales, customer service, or the industrial distribution industry. We are looking for someone with strong initiative, good communication skills, a willingness to learn technical products, and the ability to adapt to new technology and systems.
In this role, you will manage a portfolio of customer accounts, respond to customer questions, provide product and technical information, prepare quotes, process orders, and work closely with outside sales representatives, suppliers, and internal teams to find solutions for customers.
You will communicate with customers and suppliers through phone, email, online portals, and other digital tools while learning our products, processes, and ERP system, NetSuite.
Requirements
What you will do
- Serve as the primary inside sales contact for designated customer accounts and build strong, long-term customer relationships.
- Generate new and repeat sales by providing timely product information, technical information, recommendations, and solutions based on customer needs.
- Respond promptly and professionally to customer inquiries through phone, email, and other communication channels.
- Enter customer orders accurately and efficiently, including pricing, delivery requirements, terms, and other order details.
- Prepare customer quotations including price, availability, delivery, and terms.
- Check product availability and inventory levels to help customers make informed purchasing decisions.
- Process order changes, expedites, and return authorizations while keeping customers informed throughout the process.
- Assist customers with product identification, product recommendations, and basic application questions.
- Work closely with outside sales representatives to provide excellent service to assigned accounts, including inventory analysis, order status, and on-time delivery.
- Communicate with suppliers regarding pricing, product availability, delivery, purchase orders, order changes, expedites, and return authorizations.
- Assist with identifying new products and potential supply sources when needed.
- Build effective working relationships with customers, suppliers, outside sales representatives, and internal departments.
- Make recommendations and identify opportunities to improve customer satisfaction and the overall customer experience.
- Navigate and utilize supplier and customer portals, ERP systems, and other technology to support customer and operational needs.
- Learn and utilize NetSuite to manage customer information, orders, quotes, and other sales-related activities.
- Manage multiple customer requests and priorities while maintaining accurate information and timely follow-up.
- Effectively manage customer expectations by providing clear communication, accurate information, and realistic timelines.
- Work alongside experienced sales team members to develop foundational sales, product, and technical knowledge.
- Take initiative to learn our products, systems, processes, and customers.
- Adapt to new technology, systems, products, and processes as the business continues to grow.
- Perform other tasks and responsibilities as assigned.
What You Will Accomplish
- Develop a strong foundation in inside sales, customer service, and technical product support.
- Build lasting relationships with customers and suppliers by being responsive, knowledgeable, and dependable.
- Become comfortable navigating customer needs from the initial inquiry through quoting, order entry, fulfillment, and follow-up.
- Develop an understanding of industrial products and applications and how they can be used to solve customer problems.
- Become proficient in the systems and technology used to support our customers and sales team.
- Contribute to new and repeat business by identifying customer needs and providing effective solutions.
- Grow your knowledge, confidence, and responsibilities as you gain experience within the sales organization.
What You Bring
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Technical certification, college degree in a related field, or equivalent experience preferred.
- Previous customer service, sales, inside sales, sales support, manufacturing, distribution, or technical experience is a plus.

- Willingness to learn and put in the work to develop your product, technical, and sales knowledge.
- Ability to adapt to new technology, software, processes, and changing business needs.
- Professional, customer-focused approach with a genuine interest in helping people.
