Description
Position Summary
The Risk Management Specialist (RMS) supports the Credit Union's Risk Management program. Working with minimal supervision, the RMS manages daily processing for specialized members, reviews daily reports, and helps ensure compliance with applicable policies and procedures. The RMS also collaborates with departments across the Credit Union to strengthen internal controls and foster a culture of compliance and risk awareness.
The Risk Management Specialist reports directly to the Director of Risk Management. The position follows a hybrid schedule, with two days per week at the Lomita branch (schedule TBD) and three days of remote work (schedule TBD). The RMS must also be able to travel to other branches as needed to provide support and coverage.
Responsibilities:

Review daily reports for unusual activity; document findings and escalate concerns as appropriate

Communicate directly with members, verbally and in writing, regarding account-related issues and opportunities.

Review and prepare Currency Transaction Reports (CTRs) and Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs).

Process subpoenas and other legal

Assist specialized members with transactions, appointment scheduling, account maintenance, and product or service inquiries; escalate issues as needed and recommend solutions.

Receive loan and new-membership applications through specialized direct channels, including interviewing applicants, collecting documentation, and, when applicable, conducting an initial review and underwriting.

Participate occasionally in specialized business development

Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Requirements:
-
Related experience in Risk Management, Loss prevention, Bank Secrecy Act, (BSA) Compliance., or Cannabis Banking

Relevant certifications or credentials are preferred.

Professional, dependable, flexible, and enthusiastic approach to assigned responsibilities.

Strong verbal , written, and presentation communications skills, along with strong organizational skills.

Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Self-motivated, solution-oriented approach to work.

Proficiency with Windows, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and internet-based tools.

Ability to prioritize task effectively.

Ability to travel to other branches to provide support and coverage as needed.
