ABOUT THE POSITION
We are seeking a highly motivated and organized candidate for the Associate, Project Valuation & Analytics position. The successful candidate will demonstrate sound industry knowledge, superior communications, and detail-oriented organizational skills. This role reports to our Y.
Associates of Project Valuation and Analytics at Avantus support financial modeling, valuation, and analytical work across the company’s utility-scale renewable energy project portfolio. This role will contribute to project investment decisions by developing financial models, analyzing market assumptions, and preparing materials used in internal investment reviews and project financing processes.
This position offers exposure to the full lifecycle of renewable energy development and project finance.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop and update financial models for utility-scale renewable energy project portfolio.
- Support valuation analysis including IRR, NPV, and cash flow projections.
- Conduct sensitivity analysis on key variables including power prices, capital costs, operating expenses, and financing terms.
- Analyze power price forecasts, storage revenue opportunities, and contract structures.
- Support evaluation of PPA pricing, merchant exposure, and capacity revenues.
- Work closely with Development and Commercial teams to update project economics as development milestones are achieved.
- Track key project assumptions including interconnection costs, capital expenditures, and operating expenses.
- Assist with preparation of investment memos, lender presentations, and financial summaries.
- Support due diligence processes for project financing and acquisitions.
- Maintain project valuation databases and analytical tools.
- Support improvements to financial modeling templates and analytics workflows.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering, Mathematics, or related field
- 2–5 years of experience in renewable energy, project finance, energy consulting, or investment banking
- Exposure to financial modeling and infrastructure or energy project economics
- Strong Excel and financial modeling capabilities
- Analytical mindset with attention to detail
- Ability to synthesize quantitative analysis into clear insights
