Description
Points North is looking for an Associate Product Owner to drive hands on execution for partner integrations for an established B2B software application that streamlines complex payroll calculations and compliance reporting for companies with prevailing wage and unionized workforces.
This is an individual contributor role where you will be responsible for developing a keen understanding and expertise of our existing systems, building requirements for integrations, and helping drive our connectivity initiatives. You will be responsible for working directly with our partners to ensure that requirements are accurate and complete. You will work cross functionally with Engineering, QA, Implementation, Support, Managed Services, and domain SMEs, and you will have direct customer access. As a result, you will play a critical role in our continued growth, helping our clients better automate their data flow.

You will be responsible for working directly with our partners to ensure that requirements are accurate and complete. You will work cross functionally with Engineering, QA, Implementation, Support, Managed Services, and domain SMEs, and you will have direct customer access. As a result, you will play a critical role in our continued growth, helping our clients better automate their data flow.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Own requirements, documentation and outcomes for integrations with our partners, along with day-to-day product decisions for integration design in alignment with our overall company objectives.
- Translate integration needs into clear product workflows, API requirements, data mapping expectations, and operational support considerations.
- Define measurable outcomes and priorities that balance stability and retention, customer value, and modernization.
- Write epics, user stories, and detailed acceptance criteria that engineers and QA can build and test against with confidence.
- Participate in our Agile product development process.
- Use data and feedback loops (support trends, customer escalations, implementation insights, adoption signals, partner feedback) to improve the integration experience and retention.
- Coordinate and deliver release communications (what changed, who it impacts, why it matters, how to use it) related to integrations.
In the first 6-12 months you will have:
- Built strong working knowledge of our platform and the real-world customer workflows it supports.
- The role of integrations in our clients’ lifecycle and as a retention driver is clearly understood and reflected in a focused, outcome-based roadmap.
- Integrations are being built from a solidified plan with testing and user experience across multiple clients incorporated prior to official release.
What We Are Looking For:
- Proven ability to be a strong individual contributor: owning outcomes end to end process from discovery to delivery to results
- Excellent written communication (clear requirements, decision logs, release notes, stakeholder updates).
- Track record of working with Engineering and QA, with comfort going deep into edge cases, tradeoffs, and technical constraints.
- Familiarity (not necessarily expertise) with one or more of: Prevailing wage/union compliance (federal/state/local) OR Construction payroll/compliance operations
- You like being close to the work: writing, refining, triaging, talking to customers, and shipping continuously.
- Enjoy working collaboratively across cross functional teams and with partners.
- Prefer execution over authority or managing a team.
- Are energized by complexity and can translate it into simple, usable experiences.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business, or related field; or equivalent and relevant working experience
- 2+ years professional experience in product management with B2B SaaS products
- 1+ years’ experience working closely with partners on integrations to ensure mutual success.
- 1+ years' experience in regulated domains where accuracy and explainability are critical (payroll, tax, HR, compliance, fintech).
- Demonstrated capability and experience defining and delivering API based integrations, including understanding:
- Integration patterns (REST APIs, webhooks, file-based interchange where applicable)
- Data mapping/validation, error handling, reconciliation, and operational support needs
- Enterprise integration expectations (security, reliability, versioning, backward compatibility)
- Must be willing to travel to Minneapolis, MN.
