CTO – Build & Lead Enterprise AI in Poland | €180k+ | Warsaw based

Position: Field / Site CTO – Enterprise AI
Remote working policy: On-site in Warsaw, Poland, four days per week
Employment type: Full-time
Salary guide: €180,000+ gross annual base salary, depending on experience.

Fluent Polish and excellent English are required. Candidates must be based in Warsaw or willing to relocate.

Our client is a rapidly growing international enterprise AI company that helps organisations turn AI ambitions into working business systems. It combines strategic advisory with hands-on engineering to build and deploy AI agents within real customer workflows.

Small technical teams, supported by AI agents, deliver working software and develop reusable technology that accelerates future projects. The company is expanding its Polish operation and seeking a founding technical leader in Warsaw.

About the role:
Build and lead the Polish engineering operation of a growing enterprise AI company. As the founding technical leader in Warsaw, you’ll shape the local team, lead the first customer implementations and help grow the business.

This role will suit you if you enjoy the independence of building a business, staying close to the technology and working directly with clients.

What you’ll be doing:

Enterprise AI Delivery

• Own the technical delivery of complex, multi-month enterprise engagements
• Lead architecture, implementation and deployment of AI systems, LLM applications and agentic workflows
• Remain hands-on with engineering and resolve challenging technical problems
• Turn customer requirements into working systems deployed in real business environments

Customer Engagement & Business Growth

• Act as the senior technical contact for enterprise customers
• Lead technical demonstrations, stakeholder meetings and executive discussions
• Support new business opportunities through technical discovery and solution development
• Explain technical decisions clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences

Team Building & Leadership

• Establish and grow the Warsaw engineering operation
• Recruit, lead and develop delivery teams as customer engagements expand
• Set clear priorities and take ownership of delivery outcomes
• Build a culture of technical quality, accountability and practical execution

Engineering Standards & Collaboration

• Establish engineering standards, documentation and delivery practices
• Contribute reusable software and lessons learned from customer projects
• Collaborate with other Field CTOs on shared methods and customer engagements

What we’re looking for:

• 8+ years of engineering experience, with recent hands-on coding and architecture responsibility
• Previous founder, co-founder or startup experience, with evidence of building a business through meaningful funding, an exit or significant team growth
• You should be comfortable with a demanding startup environment, changing priorities and periods of intensive delivery.
• Strong backend or full-stack engineering expertise
• A proven record of leading complex implementations for large enterprise customers
• Experience building and scaling engineering teams from scratch
• A combination of startup experience and delivery within established enterprise environments
• Practical understanding of modern AI systems and LLMs, or experience shipping AI-driven features into production
• Confidence working across technical delivery, customer relationships and business development
• The ability to make decisions independently and deliver in a fast-moving environment
• Fluent Polish and excellent English
• Availability to work on-site in Warsaw four days per week

Additional experience that would be valuable:

• Python, AI agents, voice technology or enterprise SaaS
• Technical pre-sales and customer-facing engineering
• Delivery within banking, insurance or the public sector
• Experience spanning product, data, infrastructure and software delivery
