Graduate Field Applications Engineer: Invent What’s Next
Analog Devices (NASDAQ: ADI) is a global semiconductor leader at the intersection of the physical and digital worlds. Our technologies enable customers to sense, measure, connect and interpret the world around us—helping turn breakthrough ideas into meaningful impact at the Intelligent Edge
About the job
You have spent years learning how technology works. Now help create what it can become. At ADI, you will join a global technology leader where engineering meets AI and the physical world. From day one, your ideas will matter as you experiment, build and solve alongside talented people creating technologies that transform how we move, work, communicate and care for the world around us.
Bring your curiosity, creativity and perspective to a team that values different ways of thinking. Whether your strengths are in electronics, software, data, AI or connecting ideas across disciplines, you will have the support, tools and freedom to turn bold ideas into working technology. You do not need to arrive with every answer; we are looking for people with the potential and determination to discover better ones.
As a Graduate Field Applications Engineer, you will work on meaningful challenges with customers shaping intelligent vehicles, robotics, industrial automation, healthcare, energy and connected systems. Experienced mentors and a global community will champion your growth, while giving you the ownership and visibility to make an impact. If you want to build technology with real-world purpose, learn quickly and help define the future of intelligent systems, you can do that here.
Key Responsibilities
- Discover: Get inside a customer’s toughest engineering challenges and understand the system they are trying to create
- Invent: Combine ADI technologies, reference designs and your own ideas to shape solutions at the intersection of the physical and digital worlds
- Build: Turn concepts into working prototypes using evaluation boards, lab equipment, embedded code and simulation tools
- Experiment: Test, measure and iterate quickly learning from what works and what does not
- Solve: Debug real hardware and software issues, bringing in ADI specialists when a challenge calls for deeper expertise
- Influence: Help customer engineers make architecture and technology choices from first idea through qualification and production
- Demonstrate: Bring technology to life through compelling demos, workshops and technical presentations
- Connect: Work alongside Field Sales, applications, systems, product and research teams across ADI’s global network
- Shape what comes next: Bring customer insight and emerging technology trends back into ADI to influence future products and platforms
The Graduate Program
Your first 12-18 months are designed as an engineering launchpad not a classroom-only training scheme. You will learn by building, experimenting and solving real customer problems, with increasing ownership as your confidence grows. The programme includes:
- Hands-on projects across applications, systems engineering, product teams and customer-facing field roles
- Experience across sensing, signal processing, power, connectivity and embedded intelligence the technologies that give AI systems awareness of the physical world
- Lab challenges, rapid prototyping and structured debug using professional hardware and software tools
- Opportunities to contribute to live customer designs and create demos that make complex technology tangible
- Develop technical storytelling, customer collaboration, project leadership and commercial awareness
- Mentorship, an experienced Field Applications Engineer to shadow and access to ADI specialists worldwide
Technical Qualifications
- Bachelor’s/ Master’s Degree in Electronic & Electrical Engineering or a related STEM discipline
- Foundation in analog, mixed-signal or digital electronics, including the ability to read schematics and reason about circuit behaviour valuable
- Practical exposure to electronics through university projects, a placement, a personal build, a robotics team, a hackathon or laboratory work
- Familiarity with at least one programming or engineering environment such as C, C++, Python or MATLAB; experience with AI-assisted engineering tools is welcome
What You’ll Bring
- Curiosity about how things work and the drive to find better ways to build them
- Excitement about the convergence of electronics, software, data and AI
- A practical, resilient approach to open-ended problems: testing ideas, learning quickly and continuing when the first answer is not the right one
- The ability to explain technical ideas clearly and an interest in working with people as well as technology
- Curiosity about how engineering decisions create customer and business value, with an eagerness to develop sound commercial judgement
- The ambition to see your engineering move beyond the lab and become part of products used in the real world
