The Role
We are currently hiring for a Claims Examiner in our Manchester office to manage professional indemnity and technology claims from initial coverage review through to timely, commercially focused resolution.
What You’ll Be Doing:
Coverage assessment: Interpret policy wording, determine whether cover applies and escalate complex coverage issues when needed.
Claim management: Set activities and reserves, authorise payments within authority and drive claims towards timely, cost-effective outcomes.
Investigation and evaluation: Gather evidence and assess claims through contact with insureds, claimants, witnesses and relevant experts.
Resolution strategy: Work with legal counsel, brokers, underwriters, account representatives and insureds to agree focused settlement or defence strategies.
Reporting and compliance: Maintain accurate claim records, report material developments and meet applicable legal, regulatory and internal requirements.
What We’re Looking For:
Claims expertise: Practical knowledge of claims handling and insurance industry principles, ideally within professional indemnity or technology risks.
Sound judgement: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the confidence to make balanced decisions within delegated authority.
Negotiation skills: The ability to negotiate effectively and contribute to clear, commercially focused claim strategies.
Relationship building: Clear communication and interpersonal skills for working with brokers, insureds, legal advisers and internal business partners.
Systems and organisation: Strong attention to detail, time management and Microsoft Office capability; experience with ECF and/or CLASS would be an advantage.
