Position Summary

The Human Resources team plays a critical role in enabling RMIT Vietnam's strategic objectives by delivering integrated people solutions that strengthen organizational capability, foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement, and enhance employee engagement and performance. The HR Business Partner (HRBP) serves as a trusted advisor to leaders across designated Schools and Departments, partnering with management to align people strategies with business priorities. The role provides strategic and operational HR support across the employee lifecycle, including workforce planning, organizational development, talent management, employee relations, change management, and leadership capability. Working collaboratively with HR Centres of Expertise and key stakeholders, the HRBP drives the implementation of people initiatives, policies, and programs that support organizational effectiveness, employee experience, and sustainable business outcomes. Through data-driven insights, proactive partnership, and expert advice, the HRBP contributes to building a high-performing, engaged, and future-ready workforce.

Reporting Line

Reports to: Senior Manager - Partnering and Employee Relations

Key Accountabilities

Strategic HR Partnership

  • Partner with senior leaders to develop and implement people strategies that support organizational priorities, workforce capability, and business performance.
  • Act as a trusted advisor, providing expert guidance on workforce planning, organizational design, change management, employee engagement, and people-related risks.
  • Build strong stakeholder relationships and influence decision-making through a deep understanding of business needs and strategic objectives.
  • Support business transformation initiatives including restructures, operating model changes, and workforce transitions while minimising people-related risks and maintaining employee engagement.

Talent, Leadership and Organizational Development

  • Drive talent management initiatives including workforce planning, succession planning, talent reviews, leadership development, and performance management. This is done in collaboration with the relevant center of excellence teams, for example, Organisational Development, Talent Acquisition, Global Mobility and HR Operations.
  • Identify current and future workforce capability requirements and partner with leaders and Centres of Expertise to develop skills, capability, and workforce readiness strategies.
  • Coach and support leaders to strengthen people leadership capability and foster a high-performing, inclusive, and engaged culture.
  • Organise and facilitate relevant HR workshops to help uplift leadership capability.
  • Lead, assist and facilitate all HR cyclical activities, not limited to engagement surveys, performance reviews, talent calibration, salary review cycles, total rewards activities, salary reviews.
  • Lead and support organizational development and change initiatives that enhance effectiveness, capability, and employee experience.

Employee Relations and Risk Management

  • Provide expert advice and support on complex employee relations matters, including performance management, misconduct, investigations, grievances, and workplace conflict. This is done in collaboration with the Employee relations and internal legal team.
  • Partner with leaders and specialist HR teams to resolve people related challenges effectively while ensuring compliance with employment legislation, policies, and organizational standards.
  • Identify and mitigate workforce risks through proactive interventions and sound judgement.

Workforce Insights and Continuous Improvement

  • Utilise workforce data, people analytics, and employee feedback to identify trends, inform decision-making, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Partner with HR Centres of Expertise to deliver integrated people solutions and enhance HR service delivery.
  • Contribute to the development of HR policies, frameworks, and strategic projects that support organizational effectiveness and employee success.

Leadership and Collaboration

  • Represent Human Resources in leadership forums and contribute to enterprise-wide initiatives and projects.
  • Foster collaborative partnerships across the organization to deliver positive business, people, and culture outcomes.

Key Selection Criteria

  • A bachelor’s degree in human resources, or a related business or management discipline.
  • Extensive proven record as a HR generalist, HR Business partner or similar HR operating roles.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience in managing, consulting and advising on a broad range of HR issues.
  • Proven ability to partner, plan and implement programs that support strategic outcomes, issue resolution and risk mitigation.
  • Excellent knowledge of Vietnam Labour Code and application within a complex working cases from an employee relations perspective.
  • Willingness to adapt to change and the evolving future state of workforces. Being open to process improvement and automation where warranted.
  • Knowledge and exposure of working for a multi-functional, multi-national employer, understanding of the specific challenges of a wide representative group of multi-cultural employees. 
  • Demonstrated experience in collaborating with a diverse team of HR professionals to deliver a high level of service.
  • Proven ability to effectively negotiate with and influence clients and stakeholders to support and achieve strategic outcomes.
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills, with proven ability to influence and engage at all levels of an organisation.
  • Skilled at building effective relationships and communicating with a diverse range of people internal and external to the University.
  • Outstanding service ethic and commitment to problem solving, innovating and addressing the specific needs of the client group.
  • Willingness to be hands-on and ability to implement practical HR solutions to complex workforce issues.
  • Sound understanding of HRIS data management and HR reporting practices and data analysis.
  • Ability to display appropriate behaviours in line with the position and RMIT Values.
  • Ability to display appropriate behaviours in line with the position, RMIT Values and RMIT Leadership Model.

English Proficiency

English is the language of teaching and communication at RMIT Vietnam. For this role, the minimum requirement is IELTS with a score of at least 6.5 (or equivalent, as outlined in the Recruitment, Selection and Onboarding Guidelines).
