Your Mission…
As a Software Engineer at Wellington IT, you'll play a hands-on role in delivering and improving our mobile application — a product that credit union members across Ireland and the UK rely on daily. Working within a small, collaborative engineering team, you'll contribute across the full stack with a strong emphasis on front-end quality, performance, and accessibility, while supporting backend integration and overall system reliability.
Key Responsibilities (Including, but not limited to):
Delivery
- Design and implement features end-to-end — UI, API, and data layer as relevant — with appropriate tests, telemetry, and documentation.
- Take stories from refinement to production confidently, estimating and communicating progress and blockers clearly.
- Own third-line investigations and bug fixes, ensuring timely resolution and system reliability.
Engineering Standards
- Produce and maintain technical documentation to support the software lifecycle.
- Adhere to coding standards and collaborate closely with QA to align software design with testing strategy.
- Contribute to knowledge sharing across the team — surfacing learnings, patterns, and approaches that raise the collective bar.
Collaboration
- Work closely with Product, QA, and stakeholders to interpret requirements and deliver aligned solutions.
- Participate in code reviews, agile ceremonies, and continuous improvement of team practices.
- Provide support to Networks, Customer Care, and Professional Services teams where integration or operational context is needed.
Skills & Experience
Essential:
- 3+ years of professional software engineering experience.
- Strong front-end development skills — JavaScript/TypeScript and at least one component-based UI framework (React, Vue, Angular, or equivalent).
- Demonstrable use of an AI coding agent (GitHub Copilot, Amazon Q Developer, Cursor, or similar) in a professional development context.
- Solid understanding of REST APIs, Git workflows, and CI/CD practices.
- Experience working in agile environments and collaborative team settings.
- Solid fundamentals: automated testing (unit + integration), observability basics, security and privacy awareness.
- Strong written and verbal communication; comfortable working in a small team and across functions.
Desirable:
- Experience with .NET / C# in a production environment.
- Familiarity with web accessibility standards (WCAG) and cross-browser compatibility.
- Familiarity with Figma or similar design tools.
- Prior experience in a regulated industry (financial services, healthcare, or public sector).
- Exposure to AWS serverless, Oracle/PL-SQL, or Auth0.
Not required
- A computer science degree.
- Depth in any specific WIT technology stack.
