Overview

At Care Hospice, volunteers play a vital role in bringing comfort, companionship, and meaningful support to patients and families during life's most important moments. As our Director of Volunteer Services, you'll have the opportunity to shape and strengthen volunteer programs across multiple hospice locations while ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and advancing initiatives that make a lasting impact.

 

This is a highly collaborative, enterprise-level leadership role responsible for developing volunteer program strategies, coaching local Volunteer Coordinators, monitoring performance, and implementing best practices across the organization. You'll also lead the growth and success of our nationally recognized We Honor Veterans program, helping ensure veterans receive the specialized recognition and care they deserve.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and elevate volunteer services across multiple hospice locations.
  • Inspire, coach, and support Volunteer Coordinators to build thriving volunteer programs.
  • Develop innovative strategies to recruit, engage, and retain volunteers who make a meaningful difference.
  • Create standardized tools, training, and best practices that drive consistency and excellence.
  • Partner with operational leaders to strengthen volunteer program performance and ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Monitor program metrics, identify opportunities, and help teams achieve success.
  • Champion survey readiness through strong documentation and compliance practices.
  • Lead the continued growth and national expansion of the We Honor Veterans program.
  • Build collaborative relationships across the organization to advance volunteer engagement and community impact.
  • Help shape an exceptional volunteer experience that enhances the care of patients and families.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Experience in hospice, healthcare, volunteer services, nonprofit operations, community outreach, or a related field preferred.
  • Previous experience as a Volunteer Coordinator, volunteer program leader, trainer, or multi-site program support leader preferred.
  • Knowledge of hospice volunteer program requirements and CMS regulations, or the ability to quickly develop expertise.
  • Strong leadership, coaching, and relationship-building skills with the ability to influence others without direct supervisory authority.
  • Experience developing training programs, educational resources, and standardized processes.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and project management skills.

$85,000 - $95,000 per year (Average Pay Range). The pay range listed represents a general guideline for the role and is not a guarantee of the final offer. Compensation will be determined based on the selected candidate’s relevant experience and the specific responsibilities of the position. Final compensation rate will be discussed and confirmed at the conclusion of the interview process.
