Job Summary
Based in Singapore, the Asia Crude Originator/Trader will be a part of our dynamic Crude team at ConocoPhillips. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to make a significant impact by managing physical crude marketing & origination activities, recalibrate strategies, and enhancing profitability, embracing our SPIRIT value and adhering to regulatory requirements and company guidelines.Position Overview
Key responsibilities
- Develop and execute marketing & origination strategies for physical crude oil into Asia
- Establish and nurture strong network with diversified pool of counterparties – refiners, NOCs, majors and traders in Asia
- Structure complex deals with the ability to leverage both physical and financial markets to create value and manage risk.
- Able to trade regional crude paper spreads. Comfortable executing and managing paper positions overnight as part of the global team. Maintain timely & accurate physical and paper position
- Gather market intelligence. Generate actionable insights & ideas by capitalizing on fundamental and technical analysis
- Support global portfolio optimization to enhance value while actively managing risk
- Pursuing collaborative engagement with internal stakeholder holder, including operations, shipping, vetting, risk management, legal, finance to ensure smooth execution and settlement
- Maintain high degree of compliance with guidelines & controls, ethics and code of conduct of the company
Basic Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in finance, economics, engineering, math or related field, or foreign equivalent.
- 10+ years of experience in physical and/or paper trading
- Advanced level of knowledge of physical crude oil, condensate supply chains, shipping logistics, and pricing mechanisms.
Preferred Skills and Experiences
- has a proven record of success in regional and global crude markets, demonstrating ability to derive strategies and translating strategies into actionable plans
- possessed deep knowledge and experience in petroleum refining, global crude trade flows, physical and paper market dynamics, trading mechanisms and inter-dependence of global macroeconomics & geopolitics
- has successful cases of business development and origination for crude with repeatable physical deal flow
- has experience marketing medium/heavy sours, Atlantic Basin or USGC linked crude into Asia (added advantage)
- has deep familiarity with Value-at-Risk framework
- will trade paper to manage risk
- is experienced and skillful in optimizing positions
- demonstrates ability to develop deep & wide network with various refiners, NOCs, majors and traders
- is highly resilience and adaptable to changing market conditions and environment and thrive in each market conditions relative to peers
- is a team player committed to prioritizing team goals
- delivers positive results within regulatory frameworks, compliance guidelines & policies
