Summary: This position is responsible for leading end-to-end supply planning for an assigned business. It establishes production and inventory strategies that balance service, distressed inventory, capacity constraints, and cost. The role monitors daily supply risks and proactively manages shortages, distressed inventory, and service impacts while ensuring stakeholders remain aligned. It provides analytical support and recommendations through capacity planning and analysis, and inventory insights to inform business decisions. This role works with Plant Scheduling and cross functional teams to solve issues. It also maintains and optimizes planning system parameters and data accuracy to support execution and decision-making, while contributing to budgeting, continuous improvement initiatives, and long-term planning processes.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain 13-week master production plans for assigned product categories across multiple manufacturing facilities.
- Create constrained production plans and deployment recommendations using advanced planning tools and systems.
- Balance key performance metrics, including customer service levels, distressed inventory, finished goods inventory, manufacturing efficiency, and distribution costs.
- Serve as the primary Supply Chain representative and key contact for assigned categories, collaborating closely with Marketing, Category Management, Manufacturing, Procurement, and Operations teams.
- Lead and facilitate weekly Operations and Supply Planning meetings, communicating supply risks, constraints, and recommended solutions.
- Partner with Plant Schedulers to convert rough-cut production plans into executable finite production schedules.
- Monitor inventory levels, potential shortages, and distressed inventory situations; proactively communicate risks and mitigation plans to stakeholders.
- Maintain planning system parameters and data integrity within planning tools and ERP systems.
- Validate and maintain long-range production schedules (months 3–18) to support plant planning and business forecasting requirements.
- Support budgeting, long-range planning, and Production, Sales, and Inventory (PSI) activities.
- Collaborate with Procurement, Plant Planning, and cross-functional teams to address significant schedule or inventory changes affecting high-risk items.
- Drive resolution of packaging, raw material, and shelf-life concerns through the S&OP process and coordination with Procurement and Distressed Sales teams.
Requirements:
Education
- Bachelor's degree required.
Experience:
- 3+ years of experience planning and operating supply chain assets in a high-volume CPG, food manufacturing, or related environment.
- Experience utilizing advanced planning systems and decision-support tools.
- Proven problem-solving skills with the ability to work effectively across multiple functional areas and organizational levels.
Technical Skills
- Advanced analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Experience using supply planning systems, including SAP and IBP.
- Ability to analyze complex data and translate insights into actionable business plans.
- Skilled at making timely, fact-based decisions while balancing competing priorities.
Communication & Leadership Skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to clearly communicate risks, trade-offs, and recommendations to stakeholders at all levels.
- Proven experience leading cross-functional discussions and driving alignment across teams.
- Highly self-directed with the ability to work independently while keeping leadership informed of key issues and decisions.
