Directs the activities of a shift of production workers in the chemicals production area to ensure and improve safety, quality, delivery & cost targets on shift.
The role:
As a Production Supervisor, you will help drive our goals by:
· Safety:
- Drives shift’s adherence to EHS standards. Supports, coaches and involves team members in implementing EHS improvements; challenging unsafe behavior.
- Ensures the production team operates all relevant machinery, tools and equipment and undertakes standard production tasks safely and in accordance with instructions.
· Quality:
- Supervises production activities to ensure that products meet or exceed all established quality, cost and delivery requirements, ensuring safe operations are maintained.
- Ensures compliance of teams to maintain defined quality standards and non-conformance is investigated and escalated as appropriate with lessons learned implemented and shared across shifts.
· Delivery:
- Determines production priorities based on established weekly schedules and makes daily assignments.
- Manages the performance and output of the team and re-assigns activities to deliver set KPIs.
- Plans, priorities and manages assigned production area to minimize disruptions to production schedules.
· Cost:
- (Co)develops, implements, optimizes and/or continuously improves work processes, techniques and systems.
- Is responsible for accurate and effective inventory control.
· People:
- Directs all related personnel actions, including resource allocation, training, performance appraisal, discipline and safety.
- Trains and develop team to effectively undertake their position responsibilities. Ensuring the right skills are available for future requirements and succession within the shift team.
- Provides ongoing coaching to shift team.
- Promotes, establishes and maintains collaborative approach and communication with all employees within the plant.
- Performs administrative tasks such as reviewing timecards, PTO, and overtime needs to support assigned relevant operational area
- Leads by example and embodies the JM values.
Key Skills the will help you succeed in this role:
- Vocational education, practical and relevant on-the-job training or a university education (with a technical/scientific focus) and over 3 year’s relevant experience – Desirable
- Good communication skills required to direct and motivate a team.
- Requires a very good understanding of production, maintenance, quality and CI for relevant manufacturing areas they are responsible for – Desirable
- Experience and knowledge of managing a large team across different shifts/areas – Desirable
