Role Purpose:

 

We are seeking a highly motivated individual, with some early experience in Sustainability Reporting and ESG Ratings to join our Sustainability team. You will play a key supporting role in ensuring the completeness and transparency of sustainability disclosures, working closely with the Sustainability Reporting Manager, Director of Governance and Controls, the wider Group Sustainability team, and other business functions to form the foundation of engagement and communication with stakeholders. This role provides an opportunity to shape and develop Prudential’s reporting in this critical area.

 

Role Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Ownership of aspects of the Group’s annual Sustainability Report suites content and process, including:
    • Support the preparation of the Group Sustainability Report; Modern Slavery statements
    • Support with production of the report including preparing papers related to the reporting approach and content, ensuring compliance with all relevant standards and requirements;
    • Draft and review selected sections of the Group Sustainability Report;
    • Work closely with content owners to source data, collate and draft case studies, and follow-up on questions and issues where required;
    • Support verification of information maintaining a thorough audit trail/documentation for reporting; and
    • Responsible for obtaining signing off from the Business units and Function Heads; and
    • Ensuring risk assurance controls are implemented;
    • Support with the production of all sustainability report assets including Sustainability Highlights, video and other communication materials; and
    • Contributing to the sustainability section of the Annual Report and Accounts and ensuring the same level of rigor and process is applied where appropriate.

  • Annual ESG Ratings and periodic materiality assessment: Support the preparation of submissions/responses to ESG rating agencies (i.e. CDP, MSCI, Sustainalytics) and identify opportunities for improving the company’s rating over time.
    • Conduct gap analysis against peers, benchmark against standards and best practices, and subsequently provide recommendations to bridge any gaps for improving reporting.
    • Every 3 years, support the Group's materiality assessment in a timely manner, including implementing strategies for stakeholder engagement on sustainability topics.

 

  • Local disclosures: For markets that rely on Group disclosures, track and support the enhancement of Group disclosures as requirements become effective.
    • Perform review of local disclosures to ensure alignment between Group and local business units.

 

  • Act as secondary supporting secretariat to the Group Executive Sustainability Committee by preparing minutes, track actions and briefing notes to Chair.  

 

Experience and competencies:

  • Knowledge of sustainability topics (e.g., ISSB, climate and health, inclusive insurance, responsible investments, financing the transition) and the evolving sustainability landscape, and ideally possess a strong personal interest in this area.
  • Stay up-to-date on changes in sustainability reporting standards, frameworks, and regulatory requirements, across climate, nature and social, and across jurisdictions.
  • Experience of preparing external reporting materials – either in a financial reporting, investor relations, consulting, or PR/communications capacity
  • Understanding of the importance of controls in reporting processes, including around reporting in line with financial reporting frameworks and stock exchange guidance.
  • Strong analytical, research and excellent communication, presentation, writing, editing, and proofreading skills
  • Fast learner, responsive and good time management with ability to deliver high-quality material at speed and manage competing priorities
  • Team player with strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain effective relationships with a wide range of stakeholders

 

Candidate Specifications

  • University degree in Sustainability, Business, Finance, Accounting, or Economics preferred

 

Work experience:

  • Around 5-7 years experience within Sustainability reporting / Financial & Insurance industry highly preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word/Excel/PowerPoint/CoPilot

 

Abilities:

  • Experience in Reporting, Sustainability disclosures and related regulations 
  • Knowledge and interests on Sustainability/ESG
  • A team player with ability to work with tight deadlines manage multiple tasks
  • Excellent written skills in English
  • Strong communicator and ability to work with multiple stakeholders to achieve common goals
  • Self-motivation and proactiveness
  • Understanding and empathy of working in multicultural work environments
