Job Description
As a Juvenile Corrections Security Officer - Access Monitor in Columbia, SC, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Government, and more. As a Security Officer at a government juvenile services location, you will manage access control, verify credentials, issue badges, and monitor entry points to help maintain a secure environment. You will provide professional customer service, communicate clearly with staff and visitors, and support security-related operations with integrity and teamwork. This is a driving position requiring a valid driver’s license in accordance with Allied Universal driver policy requirements.

- Provide customer service to staff, visitors, and youth-related program personnel by carrying out access-control procedures, site-specific policies, and emergency response activities when appropriate.
- Monitor entrances, exits, and visitor access points; verify authorization, issue visitor credentials, and maintain accurate entry and exit records in accordance with location procedures.
- Respond to incidents, access concerns, and critical situations in a calm, professional, problem-solving manner; promptly communicate observations to designated personnel and/or emergency responders.
- Conduct regular and random patrols of assigned buildings, access points, and perimeter areas to help deter unauthorized activity and identify security-related concerns.
- Prepare clear, accurate reports and maintain required logs for visitor activity, incidents, and other security-related observations.
Minimum Requirements:
- A valid driver’s license is required in accordance with Allied Universal driver policy requirements.
- Have at least six months of security-related experience.
- Be at least 21 years of age.
- Access control and badge experience is preferred.
- Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
- Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
- As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
- Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
- As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
- Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
- A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
