Job Description
Nevada State University invites applications for the position of 1000 Hour Appointment - Event Coordinator (Events Processing Emphasis). The 1000 Hour Appointment will serve as a central resource for campus event scheduling and event processing, supporting the review, coordination, and administration of event requests from initial submission through completion. Working closely with the Events Team, the Event Coordinator acts as a liaison between event organizers and campus partners, coordinates event logistics, maintains event management systems and calendars, and helps ensure campus events are delivered efficiently and successfully. This is an excellent opportunity for an organized, customer-focused professional who enjoys working in a collaborative, fast-paced environment and wants to gain experience supporting a wide variety of university events. This position offers an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in university event operations while working alongside an experienced Events Team.

Core Responsibilities:
- Review, process, and coordinate campus event requests from initial submission through event completion.
- Coordinate event scheduling and maintain accurate reservations using the university's event management systems.
- Serve as a primary point of contact for faculty, staff, students, and external clients regarding event procedures, scheduling, and logistics.
- Coordinate event logistics, including room setups, equipment requests, audio-visual needs, catering, vendor services, and facility access.
- Collaborate with campus departments and vendors to ensure event requirements are communicated and services are delivered successfully.
- Develop event setup diagrams and maintain accurate event records and documentation.
- Manage and update the university's online events calendar and related event information.
- Provide guidance on event policies, scheduling procedures, and venue options to support successful event planning.
- Assist with on-site event support for university events as needed.
- Support planning and operational activities for signature university events.
- Maintain event equipment, supplies, and departmental resources.
- Collaborate with the full-time Event Coordinator and broader Events Team to ensure continuity of operations and exceptional customer service.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Demonstrated ability to organize multiple projects and priorities while meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills with a commitment to excellent customer service.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and the ability to learn new technology and software systems.
- Ability to work occasional early mornings, evenings, and weekends in support of university events.
- Eligibility to work in the United States without sponsorship (Nevada State does not sponsor employment-related visas).

Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in hospitality, event management, communications, marketing, business, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
- Experience coordinating events, meetings, conferences, or special events.
- Experience in higher education, hospitality, conference services, venue management, or a related field.
- Experience reviewing and processing event requests or coordinating facility scheduling.
- Experience providing customer service in a fast-paced, client-facing environment.
- Experience using event management, scheduling, or project management software.
- Experience with 25Live, Localist/Concept3D, Asana, Social Tables (Cvent Event Diagramming), Canva, or similar platforms.
- Knowledge of event planning principles and event logistics.
- Experience supporting on-site event operations is preferred.

Work Hours:
This position will work 20 hours per week.
Hourly Rate:
$24.00 per hour.
