Job Summary:

In keeping with Shields Health Care commitment to excellence, the PET technologist will provide a professional, caring atmosphere to all customer groups, while maintaining a fast-paced, multi-tasked oriented clinical environment.

Job Description:

What you will do:

·        Follow all Shields Health Care Group policies, procedures, and protocols to ensure patient safety at all times.

·        Follow rules and regulations established by the NRC, state regulatory agencies, and JCAHO. 

·        Inform the patient of all aspects of their exam to their level of understanding.

·        Operate PET equipment to produce images and measure concentrations of Radioactive Isotopes in specific body areas and body products. 

·        Performs all hot lab responsibilities.

·        Ensure patient is cleared of all contraindications and hazards.

·        Accurately position the patient and ensure their comfort.

·        Maintain visual and verbal contact with the patient during the exam.

·        Complete all forms pertaining to patient’s exam.

·        Record patient data to Tech Data Entry program.

·        Provide and issue films when appropriate.

·        Forward PET related data to Radiologist upon completion of exam.

·        Refilm cases as time allows

·        Assist clerical staff as circumstances arise.

·        Clean and re-supply equipment and rooms as needed.

Required Qualifications

What you need:

·        Must possess a state license for the state(s) in which he/she is employed to work

·        Must be certified in CPR

·        Must be registered by the ARRT and/or NMTCB.

·        A minimum of one-year prior nuclear medicine experience is required.  Excellent interpersonal skills are required.  Must be proficient in starting IVs. 

·        Must be able to sit and utilize a computer for extended periods of time. Must be able to assist patients with mobility difficulties. Must be able to push, pull, and lift a minimum of twenty-five pounds.
