Description
The Clerk and Recorder's Department is hiring a full-time Recording and Motor Vehicle Specialist II.
The Motor Vehicle Specialist II, assists the Lead Motor Vehicle Specialist, with coordinating daily operations. This position processes complex motor vehicle transactions while providing exceptional customer service to the public. The incumbent serves as a knowledgeable resource regarding motor vehicle regulations and procedures for both customers and colleagues. The Motor Vehicle Specialist II performs technical and customer service work related to motor vehicle title and registration processes. This role requires comprehensive knowledge of Colorado Department of Motor Vehicle (DMV) rules, regulations, and procedures, as well as strong attention to detail and financial accountability. The position involves direct customer interaction, complex problem-solving, and the ability to independently handle all types of motor vehicle transactions.

State of Colorado Responsibilities:
Complete required State Certifications as well as continued education classes needed to access state web based operating systems.
Act as an agent of the State of Colorado and works closely with the Department of Revenue to research, identify and resolve title/registration transaction issues.
Maintain confidentiality and awareness of federal, state, and local laws, rules and regulations pertaining to assigned State, City and County operations.
Work directly with the recording department to ensure State transactions are transferred to County records.
Interact daily with other DOR entities including: Taxation, NIC, Colorado Interactive, NMVTIS, Air Care Colorado, E-470, State of Colorado Dealer Investigations Unit, the Address Confidentiality Program, all state appointed third party vendors and fellow City and County organizations.
Motor Vehicle Tech II Responsibilities:
This position serves in a mentoring role for the Motor Vehicle Specialist I, assisting with training and interpretation of motor vehicle laws, rules and regulations and Broomfield’s policies and procedures.
Supports employees and provides feedback to the Motor Vehicle Lead and Manager through consistent communication and detailed documentation in order to assist with peer development.
Reconciles daily balancing, submits financial deposit to CCOB Revenue and prepares daily MV reports for CCOB Finance review
Monitor, order and distribute inventory for the office.
Assist in reconciliation of invoices, refunds and NSF processing.
Participates in the hiring and onboarding of new employees.
Provides leadership and direction in developing the team and supporting plans, strategies, and activities to ensure the successful implementation of the overall Motor Vehicle Division in the absence of the Lead Motor Vehicle Specialist and Motor Vehicle Manager.
Assist Broomfield residents and businesses via phone, mail, email or in person regarding ownership account review, titlework auditing and general communication addressing policies and procedures.
Processes check, cash, credit card, escrow and electronic check payments utilizing the cash tendering system
Reconciles cash, check and credit card payments at close of business.
Prepare concise and accurate correspondence to dealers, financial institutions, residents, and City and County officials.
Assist with office closing procedures, eg: Securing Inventory and legal documentation and ensuring organization and cleanliness of work areas.
Competently operate State of Colorado web based operating system
Work cross departmentally within CCOB

o Title transfers
o Emissions extensions
o Leases and Lease Buyouts
o License plate renewals
o Disability placards
o New registrations
o Special mobile machinery
o Refinancing
o Manufactured homes
o Salvage titles

Education
High School Diploma/GED
Obtain DRIVES Compliance Certification within one week from the date of hire and maintain the certification.
Experience
2 years experience required in Motor Vehicle.
One (1) year of experience in a clerical or customer service field or in the performance of similar duties and responsibilities preferred
- Regular, predictable attendance required
In-person customer/client/team meetings required.
Physical demands are described as light (exert up to 20 lbs. of force occasionally and/or up to 10 lbs. of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects).
Required to move about office/facilities
Required to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
Tasks require use of a computer for several hours.
