Overview
Blythedale seeks an experienced behavior analyst to lead the development and coordination of behavioral services across its programs. The BCBA partners with psychology, medicine, nursing, rehabilitation therapies, speech language pathology, education, child life, and families to address behavior that limits care, safety, participation, feeding, communication, and transition home. This is a clinical and program leadership position with direct consultation, staff coaching, caregiver training, and measurable quality improvement. The role serves children with developmental and acquired conditions.
Responsibilities
Behavioral Assessment and Clinical Consultation
- Assess behavior in context using observation, record review, caregiver and staff interviews, and appropriate data collection; identify practical, individualized targets and measures.
- Develop, implement, monitor, and revise behavior support plans, emphasizing prevention, skill building, communication, consistency, dignity, and safe responses to escalation.
- Consult on behavior that interferes with therapy participation, medical care, daily routines, sleep, and discharge readiness; coordinate recommendations across settings and shifts.
- Partner with medical, nutrition, occupational therapy, and speech language pathology colleagues on behavioral components of feeding care.
Caregiver and Staff Training
- Coach parents and caregivers in feasible strategies, practice their use during care, and plan for carryover at home or in the next setting.
- Provide bedside consultation and practical training to nursing, therapists, educators, and other staff; monitor whether plans can be followed reliably and adjust them with the team.
- When behavior technicians or other designated staff are assigned, provide supervision, competency assessment, and implementation oversight consistent with credentials, employer policy, and applicable law.
Interdisciplinary Program Leadership
- Collaborate with Psychology leadership and interdisciplinary partners to develop services for complex behavior and behavioral feeding, including clear eligibility, team roles, and family training.
- Participate in rounds, care planning, and discharge planning; coordinate behavioral recommendations with psychology, psychiatry, and community providers as appropriate.
- Track meaningful outcomes such as goal attainment, participation, caregiver competence, plan fidelity, and use of restrictive or crisis responses; use findings for quality improvement.
- Support program education and development of training resources across inpatient, long term care, and day hospital settings.
Other duties assigned.
Qualifications
