Description

Build Something That Matters This Summer

Looking for an internship where you can do more than observe?

At Leer, Inc., our Engineering Intern will work alongside our engineering and manufacturing teams on real projects that support our products, processes, quality, safety, and operations. You’ll gain hands-on experience in a manufacturing environment while learning how engineering decisions move from an idea to the production floor.

Leer's engineering organization includes roles spanning project engineering, manufacturing process engineering, engineering technology, design, manufacturing engineering, safety, and quality, making this a strong environment for an engineering student to gain broad exposure

What You’ll Do

As an Engineering Intern, you may:

  • Support engineering projects focused on improving manufacturing processes, equipment, product quality, safety, or efficiency.
  • Work with engineers and production team members to identify problems, evaluate solutions, and implement improvements.
  • Collect and analyze manufacturing data to help identify opportunities for process improvement.
  • Assist with product designs, drawings, layouts, documentation, and engineering changes.
  • Participate in testing, troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, and continuous improvement activities.
  • Spend time on the production floor learning how our products are built and how engineering supports day-to-day operations.
  • Collaborate with team members across Engineering, Operations, Quality, and other areas of the business.
  • Take ownership of meaningful project work and share your results and recommendations with the team.

What We’re Looking For

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor's or associate degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related field.
  • Interest in manufacturing, product design, process improvement, or hands-on engineering.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Comfortable working both at a desk and in a manufacturing environment.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to take initiative, ask questions, and learn quickly.
  • Experience with CAD software, Microsoft Excel, or other engineering tools is a plus.

Prior manufacturing experience is not required. We’re looking for someone who is curious, motivated, and excited to learn.

What You’ll Gain

This isn't an internship where you'll spend the summer making copies or watching from the sidelines. You'll have the opportunity to:

  • Work on real engineering projects with real business impact.
  • Gain hands-on experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Learn from experienced engineers, operations leaders, and manufacturing team members.
  • Build your technical, problem-solving, communication, and project-management skills.
  • Present your work and demonstrate what you accomplished during your internship.
  • Gain exposure to other businesses and engineering professionals across our broader organization.

About Leer

At Leer, Inc., we believe some of the best learning happens by getting close to the work, asking questions, solving problems, and seeing your ideas put into action. As an intern, you'll be treated as a member of the team and given opportunities to contribute, learn, and grow throughout the summer.

If you're ready to take what you've learned in the classroom and put it to work in a hands-on manufacturing environment, we'd love to meet you.

Apply today and spend your summer building experience that will carry into your engineering career.
