We’re seeking compassionate, reliable, and skilled Sign Language Interpreters to support students who are deaf or hard of hearing in educational settings.

Position Summary:
As a Sign Language Interpreter in a school setting, you will facilitate communication between students who are deaf or hard of hearing and their peers, teachers, and school staff. You will play a critical role in ensuring equal access to educational content and social interactions throughout the school day.

Responsibilities include:

• Provide sign language interpreting services (e.g., ASL) in classroom and school-related settings
• Facilitate effective communication between students, teachers, and staff
• Support student access to instruction, activities, and social interactions
• Collaborate with teachers, special education staff, and related service providers
• Maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional and ethical standards
• Adapt interpreting style based on student needs and educational environment
• Participate in team meetings and school-based collaboration as needed

Qualifications:

• Minimum EIPA score of 3.5+ (required for school-based interpreters in PA)
• State registration with the Pennsylvania Office for the Deaf & Hard of Hearing (ODHH) OR eligibility to obtain
• RID/NIC certification (preferred)
• Experience interpreting in an educational setting (preferred)
• Strong understanding of Deaf culture and communication modalities
• Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team
• Reliable, professional, and adaptable
