Junior Project Manager

A leading project management and infrastructure consulting company is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Project Manager to join their team in Cape Town City Centre. This role offers an excellent opportunity for a project professional with experience in the construction and infrastructure sector to gain exposure to large-scale public sector programmes while working within a structured and professional environment.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the management, delivery, implementation, monitoring, and reporting of infrastructure programmes, including health and education infrastructure projects, under the guidance of an experienced Programme Manager.

Responsibilities: Project Management & Delivery • Manage allocated projects from initiation through to completion. • Ensure adherence to approved project programmes, timelines, and deliverables. • Monitor project progress and proactively identify and escalate potential risks or delays. • Ensure compliance with all project management processes, protocols, and procedures. • Maintain accurate and up-to-date project records and documentation. • Ensure project information is updated on company systems and servers at all times. Consultant & Contractor Management • Manage consultant appointments and monitor performance against project requirements. • Manage contractor appointments and oversee contractor performance. • Build and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders. • Coordinate communication between project teams, consultants, contractors, and clients. Contract Administration • Administer and manage contracts, including JBCC and NEC agreements. • Review appointments, additional fee requests, and contractual documentation. • Monitor contractual compliance and support project governance requirements. Financial Administration & Reporting • Review invoices for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with project requirements. • Monitor project budgets and expenditure. • Assist with financial administration and reporting related to projects. • Prepare project reports and ensure reporting requirements are completed accurately and on time. • Support audit processes and ensure successful completion of Auditor-General audits where applicable. Quality Assurance & Compliance • Ensure quality standards are maintained throughout project execution. • Verify that all project documentation is filed accurately and correctly. • Ensure compliance with industry regulations, company policies, and programme requirements. • Maintain the integrity of project data collected, collated, and submitted. Key Decision-Making • Escalating project risks and issues timeously. • Ensuring project data integrity and reporting accuracy. • Making operational decisions related to project responsibilities. • Monitoring adherence to project programmes and budgets

 

 

General Administration • Provide additional administrative and project support as required. • Assist with operational activities that support programme delivery and organisational objectives. Requirements: • BSc or BTech Degree in Project Management or a related field. • Professional registration will be advantageous. • Minimum of 2 years experience in Project Management or Programme Management. • Experience within the construction or infrastructure industry is essential. • Experience with contract administration, including JBCC and NEC contracts. • Experience in project-related financial administration.
