Position Summary
Our client, a leading multi-site manufacturing and retail organization, is seeking an experienced Maintenance Manager to oversee the maintenance, repair, and continuous improvement of plant equipment, machinery, building systems, and critical operational assets across multiple locations in Jamaica.
The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring maximum equipment reliability, minimizing downtime, improving operational efficiency, and leading a team of maintenance professionals in a fast-paced production environment. This role requires a strong combination of technical expertise, leadership capability, strategic planning, and hands-on problem-solving.
Key Responsibilities
Maintenance Strategy & Operations
- Develop, implement, and manage preventative, predictive, and corrective maintenance programs.
- Ensure all machinery, equipment, and operational systems are maintained in optimal working condition.
- Research, evaluate, and recommend equipment upgrades and modernization initiatives.
- Lead the implementation of approved equipment and machinery improvement projects.
- Oversee maintenance activities across manufacturing, retail, and support locations.
- Respond to and coordinate emergency maintenance situations as required.
- Establish maintenance schedules that minimize operational disruption and maximize asset utilization.
Team Leadership & Management
- Lead, supervise, and develop maintenance personnel.
- Assign work activities, establish timelines, and monitor completion of maintenance projects.
- Identify training and development needs and ensure team members are adequately equipped and skilled.
- Participate in recruitment, onboarding, and performance management activities.
- Conduct performance evaluations and provide ongoing coaching and feedback.
Asset Reliability & Continuous Improvement
- Monitor equipment performance and identify opportunities to improve reliability and efficiency.
- Analyze maintenance data and key performance indicators to drive operational improvements.
- Implement systems to track maintenance history, work orders, spare parts, and asset performance.
- Conduct quality checks to ensure maintenance standards are consistently achieved.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve operational processes and equipment effectiveness.
Inventory & Budget Management
- Monitor inventory levels of spare parts, tools, and maintenance supplies.
- Initiate procurement activities in accordance with company policies.
- Prepare maintenance budgets, project estimates, and progress reports.
- Manage maintenance expenditures while ensuring operational requirements are met.
Safety & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with all health, safety, environmental, and operational standards.
- Maintain and update departmental Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Ensure maintenance activities are executed in accordance with regulatory and company requirements.
Reporting & Communication
- Prepare maintenance reports and operational analyses for senior leadership.
- Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders, contractors, and service providers.
- Provide recommendations to improve plant performance, efficiency, and equipment reliability.

Qualifications & Experience
Education
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related discipline.
Experience
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience in a senior maintenance leadership role.
- Experience managing maintenance operations within a manufacturing, industrial, production, or large-scale operational environment.
- Strong knowledge of industrial electrical and mechanical systems.
- Experience with maintenance planning, asset management, and performance measurement systems.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience within regulated manufacturing environments.
- Professional engineering certifications or postgraduate management qualifications.
- Familiarity with quality, safety, and operational excellence frameworks.
- Experience implementing continuous improvement initiatives and equipment modernization projects.
