 Drive with Purpose
Are you looking for a part-time job that makes a real difference? Join Span and make a real difference in your neighborhood! We’re a small, mission-driven non-profit dedicated to connecting Denton County neighbors—older adults, people with disabilities, veterans, and others—to medical appointments, groceries, and essential services. When you drive with us, you’re not just giving a ride—you’re helping someone stay connected, independent, and cared for.

About the Role: As a Span Driver, you’ll operate our buses, high-roof vans, and minivans to provide safe, non-emergency rides for neighbors across Denton County—to medical appointments, grocery trips, and other essential destinations. You’ll work a route-based schedule and deliver warm, reliable service at every stop. Because this is a safety-sensitive position, employment includes routine DOT/FTA-required screenings, training, and certifications to keep you—and our riders—safe.

  • Follow assigned schedules and communicate regularly with Dispatch about service status, breaks, vehicle issues, and passenger-related incidents.
  • Use a two-way radio professionally and in accordance with FCC regulations.
  • Comply with local, state, and federal traffic regulations.
  • Assist ambulatory and wheelchair passengers with boarding and exiting the vehicle.
  • Provide courteous service to clients, assisting with parcels or special needs as necessary.
  • Regulate heating, lighting, and ventilation for passenger comfort.
  • Collect and handle fares responsibly.
  • Participate in training and meetings as required.

  • Knowledge of GPS guidance systems and the ability to interpret maps and directions.
  • Reliable, punctual, and appropriately groomed in a Span uniform.
  • Ability to handle stressful situations and maintain constructive relationships with clients and co-workers.
  • Basic math skills and the ability to communicate effectively with passengers and dispatchers.
