As a Technology Development (TD) Materials Sourcing Manager at Micron Technology, Inc., you will be responsible for the development, alignment, and execution of short-range and long-range Procurement strategies which enable Micron’s technology roadmap requirements.

In this role, you will lead the development and implementation of materials sourcing and selection events related to all technology development process areas. You will conduct negotiations for evaluation samples as well as strategic pricing using should cost modeling and other analytical techniques to drive the negotiation process.

In this role, you will partner with cross-functional teams to enable Micron to meet technology requirements by ensuring vendor materials capabilities roadmaps are aligned to support. This also includes negotiation for initial materials cost structure, ensuring quality standards, and continuity in supply chain.

Role Responsibilities & Tasks

Facilitate Technical Collaboration with Stakeholders

  • Understand technical market landscape and supplier capabilities and roadmaps
  • Facilitate co-development activities, and technical roadmap collaboration with suppliers
  • Coordinate with internal EHSS and vendor safety compliance
  • Develop and Manage Materials Procurement Sourcing Strategies through stakeholder input, communication, performance monitoring and execution

Source and Select Suppliers to Meet Technical and Cost Requirements

  • Align customers input and strategic sourcing goals
  • Drive sourcing requirements and supplier selection through decision matrix in support of technology development, cost reduction, and quality improvement efforts
  • Assess commercial viability of material suppliers
  • Partner with stakeholders to assess Supply Chain risk for new sources
  • Provide material analysis to enable best sourcing decisions. Suppliers must meet the needs of Micron TD customers, including Total Cost of Ownership, quality, performance and supply continuity requirements
  • Initiate and negotiate contracts to completion for new suppliers
  • Understand new technology requirements and ensure supply is capable of meeting future requirements
  • Coordinate Forecast Projections associated with new technology deployment

Partner in Negotiation Processes to Enable Future Material Cost Structure

  • Partner with stakeholders on negotiations with suppliers for strategic sourcing/RFQ events
  • Utilize cost modeling and other analytical techniques to drive negotiation process
  • Ensure all potential new business opportunities events are coordinated to fully leverage global business volume to Micron’s advantage before business is awarded.

Build and Maintain Strong Supplier and Business Relationships

  • Partner with stakeholders to communicate Technology Roadmap Requirements to suppliers
  • Interact with Micron and Supplier executives to ensure that Micron technology needs are understood.
  • Ensure that the appropriate level of confidentiality is in use when interacting with suppliers regarding technical roadmap requirements
  • Support Micron New Supplier Qualification Process
  • Partner with stakeholders to segment suppliers and setting strategic goals based on technical capabilities

Lead the Organization through the Alternate Sourcing Decision Process

  • Work with internal customers to define, build consensus and identify second source opportunities
  • Ensure recommended alternate suppliers meet all Supply Chain Risk and Business Continuity criteria

Education

Required:

Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience in one or more of the following:

  • Chemical Engineering, Materials Science
  • Semiconductor related process development
  • Other related field of study

Desired:

Master’s Degree or equivalent experience

  • Chemical Engineering, Materials Science
  • Semiconductor related process development

Experience

The following are examples of experience that is valuable to candidate to be successful in attaining this position

  • Strong technical and market knowledge of semiconductor materials
  • Working as part of a Category team in an engineering capacity
  • Interactions with customers and a customer service orientation
  • Manage interfaces with varied international sites and customer needs
  • Work independently, in a small team environment and/or with a cross functional team
  • Pricing Negotiation experience
  • Proactive nature
  • Strong analytical and data based decision making experience
  • Excellent internal and external communication capabilities
  • High level of capability to design, develop and present concepts and proposals to varied levels within the internal and external organization

Qualifications

4+ years of experience in one or more of the following:

  • Process Development Engineering
  • Materials Science / Development Engineering
  • Purchasing/Procurement
  • Supplier/Partner Relations
  • Supply Chain
