Our Energy & Resources - Asset Management practice are looking for Manager with a solid operational technology (OT) background to join the team.
Our Asset & Operations Excellence teams help energy, utilities and industrial clients get more from their physical assets – improving safety, reliability, availability and whole-life cost across the asset lifecycle. We combine deep asset management and engineering expertise with modern enterprise asset management technology and data to help clients move from reactive maintenance to intelligent, insight-led asset management.
Operational technology sits at the heart of this. The control systems, telemetry and operational data that run our clients’ networks and plant are increasingly the foundation for predictive maintenance, remote operations and AI-enabled decision making, and they must be integrated with core IT and protected against a growing cyber threat. This role is for someone with hands-on OT experience who wants to apply it in a consulting environment, helping clients connect their operational systems and data to better asset outcomes.
What you will be doing
- You’ll work as part of client teams delivering asset management and operational improvement programmes for asset-intensive clients across energy, utilities and major infrastructure, contributing to current-state assessments, operating model design and implementation, with a particular focus on the OT and control systems landscape.
- You’ll help assess clients’ OT estates, including SCADA, DCS, PLC/RTU, telemetry, data historians and condition monitoring systems, gathering and analysing information and contributing to recommendations and roadmaps.
- You’ll support the design of integrations and data flows between OT systems and EAM / CMMS platforms such as IBM Maximo, ERP and analytics platforms, helping operational data drive condition-based and predictive maintenance.
- You’ll contribute to OT resilience work, for example assessing controls against industry frameworks and helping document governance, change control, data ownership (RACI) and support models for critical systems.
- You’ll help explore and test how operational data, industrial IoT, digital twins and AI can improve asset performance, safety and availability, including developing use cases and supporting proofs of concept.
- You’ll support the handover of engineering and OT data from capital projects into operations, helping ensure new and upgraded assets go live with trusted data and integrated systems.
- You’ll own discrete pieces of analysis and deliverables, help run workshops and interviews with client stakeholders, and build strong day-to-day working relationships with client teams.
- You’ll support & contribute to proposals and thought leadership, and help grow our OT and asset operations propositions within a steadily growing practice.
Your skills and experience
- You’ve built early-to-mid career experience in operational technology, control systems or industrial automation within an asset-intensive sector – energy, utilities, oil and gas, water, manufacturing or similar – whether in industry, with a system integrator or OEM, or in consulting.
- You’ve practical, hands-on experience with OT technologies such as SCADA, DCS, PLC/RTU or data historians (for example AVEVA PI), and a working understanding of industrial protocols (for example OPC UA, Modbus or DNP3) and OT network architectures such as the Purdue model.
- You understand how OT data connects to the wider technology landscape, such as EAM / CMMS platforms like IBM Maximo, ERP and analytics platforms. Maximo experience is a bonus but not essential.
- You’ve an interest in asset management and maintenance and reliability principles, such as condition-based monitoring; exposure to ISO 55000 is helpful but not required.
- You’ve contributed to change or improvement projects, whether in consulting, industry or a major programme, and are confident owning your own deliverables, managing your time across tasks and turning analysis into clear, practical recommendations.
- You’ve strong analytical, written and verbal communication skills, and you’re comfortable working with client stakeholders from control room engineers and operations managers through to IT and digital teams.
- You’re curious about how emerging technologies and Artificial Intelligence (AI) are changing OT and asset operations; any experience with AI, IIoT or advanced analytics solutions is a plus.
- You’re eager to learn and grow in a consulting environment and interested in the energy transition.
