Description

[What the role is]

NEA is one of the government agencies facilitating efforts to address and mitigate climate change. NEA administers Singapore’s carbon tax regime under the Carbon Pricing Act, develops the eligibility criteria under the International Carbon Credit (ICC) Framework, and leads the compilation of Singapore’s greenhouse gas inventory. The Carbon Planning Division develops strategies and initiatives to drive the ICC framework, supports the implementation of cross-border carbon capture and storage (CCS) projects as a national decarbonisation pathway, and the international acceptance of new mitigation measures (including carbon accounting methodologies) to meet our climate targets.

[What you will be working on]

You will lead a team to drive CPD's strategic priorities in developing and implementing initiatives under the International Carbon Credit (ICC) framework, supporting cross-border CCS cooperation, and advancing emerging mitigation measures. You will manage and guide the team to:

  • Develop policies and implementation approaches for CCS and emerging mitigation measures.
  • Drive the development, review and operationalisation of Singapore's ICC Framework
  • Build organisational capability in carbon crediting methodologies, CCS and emerging mitigation measures
  • Build, maintain and influence international and regional networks to advance Singapore's interests
  • Lead division-wide strategic and operational initiatives

[What we are looking for]

We are looking for driven, capable and committed officers who possess a strong desire to contribute to Singapore’s carbon transition, thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, are adept at working with multiple stakeholders and possess the following qualities:

  • At least 9 years of work experience in the climate change / sustainability field in the public or private sector.
  • Degree in Chemical, Environmental Engineering or equivalent with relevant experience in carbon markets.
  • Possess strong analytical, problem-solving, interpersonal, organisational and communication skills.
  • Resourceful, meticulous, self-driven and able to work well both independently and in a team.
  • Strong ability to learn on the fly.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, Excel, automation and AI tools.
  • Willing to travel overseas for International/regional meetings.
  • You will be working in a fast-paced and highly volatile environment that would require the ability to manage multiple priorities and stakeholders at the same time.
