Description
Don't Just Close Loans. Open Doors.
What if your next mortgage closing meant more than a commission check?
At Opportunity Resource Fund (OppFund), we believe the right mortgage professional doesn't just process applications-they find solutions, build relationships, and help people achieve something that can change their lives: homeownership.
We're looking for a driven, resourceful, and relationship-focused Mortgage Loan Originator who knows how to turn challenges into opportunities. If you're passionate about helping people, skilled at navigating the lending process, and motivated to get deals across the finish line, this could be the opportunity you've been looking for.
A Different Kind of Mortgage Career
Traditional mortgage lending can be unpredictable. Market shifts, interest rates, and fluctuating loan volume can make it difficult to find consistency. At OppFund, you can put your expertise to work in a role designed to offer both professional opportunity and personal balance.
Here's what sets us apart:
- Stability with earning potential: Enjoy a base salary plus commission, giving you a more consistent foundation while rewarding your success.
- Work-life balance that matters: A 40-hour workweek allows you to build your career without making work your entire life.
- More ways to say yes: When a borrower doesn't fit the traditional lending mold, you can explore alternative solutions instead of immediately closing the door.
- Purpose behind every closing: Help individuals and families overcome barriers to homeownership while strengthening Michigan communities.
Think Beyond Traditional Lending
At OppFund, we take a more personalized approach to mortgage lending. As a nonprofit Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI), we work to expand access to responsible financing for borrowers who may encounter barriers with conventional lenders.
You'll have access to a range of mortgage products and assistance programs to help borrowers find a path forward, including:
- FHA, MSHDA, Fannie Mae, and Freddie Mac mortgage programs
- Fresh Opportunity Mortgage, OppFund's proprietary portfolio lending product
- Down payment assistance (DPA) programs, subject to eligibility and funding availability
- Home repair financing opportunities through the Federal Home Loan Bank (FHLB)
Our approach is simple: understand the borrower's needs, explore the available options, and find a responsible solution whenever possible. Your ability to think creatively, navigate challenges, and connect borrowers with the right resources will be essential to your success.
Your Territory. Your Relationships. Your Impact.
Your primary market will include Jackson, Lansing, and Genesee County communities along the I-69 corridor.
You'll develop referral relationships, connect with prospective homebuyers, guide applicants through the mortgage process, and help grow OppFund's presence throughout the region. This is an opportunity for a self-starter who enjoys being out in the community, cultivating connections, and turning those relationships into successful closings.
Who Will Thrive in This Role?
We're looking for someone who knows that great lending starts with listening-and ends with solutions.
You may be a great fit if you:
- Have experience in mortgage lending, loan origination, sales, or a related customer-facing field.
- Build trust easily and know how to establish lasting relationships with borrowers and referral partners.
- Approach challenges with curiosity and persistence rather than immediately taking no for an answer.
- Have a strong deal-closing mindset and the follow-through to move loans from application to closing.
- Communicate clearly, manage competing priorities, and keep transactions moving.
- Care about responsible lending and want your work to contribute to stronger communities.
We're interested in professionals who can balance empathy with accountability, creativity with compliance, and relationship-building with results.
Ready to Turn Opportunity Into Impact?
Take the next step in your mortgage career with a role that offers earning potential, work-life balance, and the opportunity to make homeownership possible for more Michigan families. Bring your expertise, build meaningful relationships, and be part of a team that believes in finding solutions and opening doors.
