Description
C.H. Robinson is seeking an Account Executive to join our customer team in Rotterdam.
In this role, you will support a portfolio that includes medium to large, complex customers, with a strong focus on customer service, account retention and high-quality execution. At least 50% of your time will be dedicated to customer support and retention, working closely with the Key Account Manager and operational teams to keep customers informed, resolve issues and deliver on commitments.
As a key customer contact, you will combine freight-forwarding knowledge with confident communication and commercial awareness. You will build strong relationships, identify opportunities to improve the customer experience and, where appropriate, support account growth through solutions aligned with customer needs.

RESPONSIBILITIES
The duties and responsibilities of this position consist of, but are not limited to, the following:
- Serve as a primary day-to-day customer contact, delivering a positive experience through proactive communication, timely updates and an appropriate sense of urgency.
- Partner closely with the Key Account Manager, operations and product or capacity teams to ensure high-quality execution and consistent service.
- Own customer follow-up and support account retention by understanding requirements, monitoring commitments and addressing service issues promptly.
- Stay informed about changes in customers’ businesses, industries and supply chains, using that knowledge to anticipate needs and identify improvement opportunities.
- Analyze customer-specific data, service performance, volume and financial results, and share actionable insights with internal stakeholders.
- Collaborate with internal teams to develop practical freight-forwarding and supply-chain solutions aligned with customer expectations.
- Navigate difficult conversations and manage conflict with tact, diplomacy and a solution-focused approach.
- Use effective negotiation and commercial skills when discussing pricing, service solutions or additional opportunities with customers.
- Adopt new tools and processes that improve workflow, visibility and the overall customer experience.
- Continuously develop knowledge of C.H. Robinson’s services, technology and transport modes, with particular relevance to ocean freight.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required
- Minimum 2 years of customer-facing experience in freight forwarding, gained in account management, customer service, customer support, operations or a similar role.
- Strong understanding of freight-forwarding operations and the ability to translate operational information into clear customer updates.
- Fluency in Dutch and English.
- Willingness and ability to work from the Rotterdam office during onboarding and at least three days per week thereafter.
Preferred
- Experience with ocean freight or supporting complex ocean-freight customers.
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make data-informed decisions.
- Strong relationship-building, negotiation and influencing skills, combined with sound business acumen.
- Ability to work effectively under deadlines, collaborate in a team and deliver independent results.
- Strong prioritization and multitasking skills, with a consistent sense of urgency.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills across customers, operations and management levels.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.

Compensation Range
€34,900.00 - €59,500.00The base pay range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum base pay for the position across the entirety of the country this requisition is posted in.
