Job Description

Overview

The Architect (Building) will be responsible for supervising and monitoring architectural works during the construction phase to ensure compliance with approved designs, project specifications, quality standards, and contractual requirements. The role will support the successful delivery of complex building projects by ensuring architectural integrity, design intent, functionality, aesthetics, and construction quality are maintained throughout project execution.

Your role

Construction Supervision

• Inspect architectural works including building finishes, facades, roofing systems, partitions, ceilings, doors, windows, and fit-out works.
• Verify that construction activities are executed in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, and applicable codes.
• Monitor workmanship standards and ensure architectural details are constructed to the required quality levels.
• Witness inspections and mock-up reviews to confirm compliance with project requirements.
• Identify deficiencies and ensure timely implementation of corrective actions by contractors.

Technical Review and Coordination

• Review architectural shop drawings, material submissions, samples, and technical proposals for compliance with project requirements.
• Coordinate with structural, civil, MEP, landscape, and interior design teams to resolve design and construction interface issues.
• Evaluate requests for information, technical queries, and proposed architectural modifications.
• Support the review of value engineering proposals while maintaining design quality and functional requirements.
• Provide technical recommendations to resolve architectural challenges encountered during construction.

Quality Assurance and Compliance

• Ensure architectural works comply with approved quality plans, project specifications, and contract requirements.
• Review inspection reports, material approvals, and testing records related to architectural elements.
• Monitor implementation of inspection and test plans for architectural construction activities.
• Identify non-conformities and ensure corrective and preventive actions are effectively implemented.
• Participate in quality audits and compliance reviews to maintain project quality standards.

Materials and Finishes Management

• Review and assess architectural materials, finishes, fixtures, and product submissions for compliance with project standards.
• Verify installation of finishes and materials against approved mock-ups and sample boards.
• Monitor storage, handling, and installation practices to ensure material quality is maintained.
• Ensure consistency of architectural finishes throughout the project.
• Support selection reviews and approval processes for architectural materials and finishes where required.

Site Inspection and Progress Monitoring

• Conduct regular site inspections to assess construction progress, workmanship quality, and compliance with approved designs.
• Monitor contractor schedules related to architectural works and identify potential risks or delays.
• Verify completion and readiness of architectural works prior to inspections and handover stages.
• Track project milestones and report progress against approved construction programs.
• Assist in snagging, de-snagging, and final inspection activities.

Stakeholder Coordination

• Liaise with Client representatives, contractors, consultants, and project teams on architectural matters.
• Participate in progress meetings, design coordination meetings, and site inspections.
• Support resolution of site-related technical issues affecting architectural works.
• Coordinate with QA/QC, HSE, and engineering teams to ensure compliance with project requirements.
• Maintain effective communication with stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery.

Reporting and Documentation

• Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly reports covering architectural progress, inspections, and compliance status.
• Maintain records of site inspections, technical reviews, approvals, and quality observations.
• Review contractor reports and verify the accuracy of architectural work progress and completion status.
• Document non-conformances, corrective actions, design clarifications, and site instructions.
• Ensure all architectural documentation is properly maintained and available for audits, reviews, and project closeout.

About you

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Architecture or a related discipline from a recognized university.
• Master's Degree in Architecture, Urban Design, or Construction Management is preferred.
• Professional registration or architectural licensure is desirable.
• Membership in a recognized architectural or engineering professional body is preferred.
• Additional certifications related to construction supervision, project management, or quality management are advantageous.

Experience Requirements

• Minimum 8-12 years of professional experience in architectural design and construction supervision.
• Minimum 5 years of experience on site supervision consultancy projects involving major building developments.
• Proven experience in large-scale buildings, convention centers, hotels, resorts, and mixed-use developments.
• Strong experience in architectural finishes, facade systems, fit-out works, and building envelope construction.
• Previous GCC experience, particularly within Saudi Arabia, is highly desirable.

Technical Competencies

• Strong knowledge of architectural design principles, construction methodologies, and building systems.
• Thorough understanding of building codes, accessibility requirements, fire and life safety standards, and construction regulations.
• Experience in reviewing shop drawings, material submissions, architectural specifications, and technical documentation.
• Knowledge of facade systems, interior finishes, building envelope technologies, and fit-out construction.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, Revit, BIM platforms, and other architectural software applications.
