Graphic Designer - Print Production (ZR-734)

Horizon Tech is hiring an experienced Graphic Designer – Print Production to join a US-based commercial and specialty printer as a dedicated, full-time team member, working directly with the client's production team.

You'll mainly work on paper products like business cards, flyers, and other marketing materials, and you may also help with other product lines as needs change. You'll pick up jobs from an assigned job board, create designs, send proofs to customers for approval, and prepare final print-ready files. We want someone with a wide range of design skills who adapts easily as priorities shift.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Design and Production:

• Monitor the assigned job board and manage incoming design requests from start to finish.
• Create designs for business cards, flyers, brochures, and other print collateral, and help with other product lines when needed.
• Prepare and send proofs to customers, then revise them based on feedback.
• Finalize approved designs and deliver print-ready files that match the approved proof exactly.
• Check size, scale, bleed, resolution, and usability before files go to production.

Customer Communication:

• Handle customer communication directly instead of routing it back to the sales team.
• Answer customer calls when available and reply to emails promptly.
• Contact customers early when you need clarification on a project.
• Explain design choices, limitations, and recommendations in plain language.
• Steer customers toward solutions that work within the printing capabilities available.

Workflow and Deadlines:

• Deliver first drafts within 48 hours for standard projects.
• Manage your time well and stay focused on assigned work.
• Speak up early if a deadline is at risk, and work with teammates to rebalance workload.
• Avoid bottlenecks that affect sales, production, or the customer experience.

Quality and Organization:

• Catch and fix errors before submitting proofs or final files.
• Own the quality of your work from start to finish to keep rework low.
• Follow file naming conventions and folder structures, and save files in the right place.
• Keep your digital workspace organized, your work documented, and your software up to date.

Teamwork and Growth:

• Work closely across the full workflow: sales, design, and production.
• Stay professional and focused on solutions, even under pressure.
• Take feedback openly and adjust when needed.
• Keep up with design trends, tools, and print technologies, and share ideas that improve the team's workflow.

REQUIREMENTS:

• 2+ years of graphic design experience, preferably in print production or a commercial print environment.
• Strong skills in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign.
• Solid knowledge of print file preparation: CMYK, bleed, trim, safe zones, resolution, and preflight checks.
• A portfolio showing print work such as business cards, flyers, brochures, or similar.
• Excellent written and spoken English, and comfort speaking with customers by phone and email.
• Strong attention to detail and a habit of consistently delivering accurate work.
• Ability to manage several projects and meet tight turnaround times.
• Adaptable and willing to work across different product types.

PREFERRED:

• Experience with signage, large-format, promotional products, or vehicle wrap design.
• Experience with online proofing or job-board and ticketing systems.
• Knowledge of print production processes and material limitations.
