Assistant Resident Engineer – Geotechnical
Abu Dhabi, UAE
Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Assistant Resident Engineer – Geotechnical to join our team! In this role you will provide day-to-day site-based geotechnical engineering support and supervision for enabling/earthworks and related infrastructure activities, ensuring compliance with approved design, specifications, and testing requirements.
What You’ll Be Doing:
Assist and deputize for the Resident Engineer as required and support overall site delivery.
Review geotechnical reports, drawings, specifications, and soil investigation data; verify requirements are implemented on site.
Monitor and verify geotechnical works including excavation, earthworks, grading, embankments, backfilling, compaction, and soil improvement.
Assess ground conditions and suitability of in-situ soils and fill materials; identify unsuitable materials, groundwater issues, weak strata, or obstructions and recommend corrective measures.
Review and provide input to method statements, ITPs, WIRs, RFIs/TQs and investigate geotechnical NCRs to closure.
Coordinate with QA/QC and approved laboratories; witness and verify testing (e.g., FDT, CBR, Proctor, plate load, soil classification/compaction).
Coordinate with survey teams to verify excavation/formation levels, slopes, embankments, and final grades.
Support foundation and utilities trenching works by verifying bearing strata, bedding/backfilling, reinstatement and acceptance prior to next activities.
Monitor testing frequency/locations and geotechnical performance indicators.
Maintain accurate site records and prepare reports/updates; participate in inspections and technical/progress meetings and respond to technical comments.
What Required Skills You’ll Bring:
Bachelor’s Degree in Geotechnical Engineering, or Civil Engineering.
Minimum 10 years relevant experience with significant site-based geotechnical supervision on major infrastructure projects.
Strong knowledge of soil mechanics, compaction, excavation, foundations, ground improvement and dewatering interfaces.
Proven experience coordinating geotechnical laboratories and interpreting field/lab results.
Strong documentation, computer literacy, and communication skills.
What Desired Skills You’ll Bring:
Experience in enabling works and large-scale earthworks programs (bulk earthworks/asphalt interface exposure is an advantage).
Strong stakeholder coordination capability within a PMC/CS environment.
