The GA Accounting & Reporting (A&R) Team plays a key role in the Company by ensuring accurate, consistent and timely accounting and reporting of General Account assets, under multiple accounting frameworks and currencies.
Reporting to the Director, GA Accounting & Reporting, the Senior Financial Analyst is a key member of the Accounting & Reporting team. The Senior Financial Analyst is responsible for the accuracy, completeness and timeliness of accounting for General Fund assets, as well as supporting legal entity consolidations and reporting for the General Account. You will play a key role in supporting the team through day-to-day accounting and reporting activities and will also support the team on organizational as well as ad-hoc projects and requests.
Position Responsibilities:
Responsible for the preparation, analysis and presentation of monthly and ad-hoc financial reports
Prepares board reports and/or financial statements for selected subsidiaries and co-ordinates the year-end financial audit process for subsidiaries
Review, verify, and organize the information required for the preparation of monthly reports, management reports and other financial reports
Perform periodic controls such as Intercompany, Interdivisional and parent / subsidiary reconciliations
Performs reconciliations between the ledger and sub-ledgers/admin systems on a periodic basis
Prepare Consolidation entries perform consolidation related controls and review eliminations, equity pick up and income allocation entries
Track funding and distributions of private market investments; recommend distributions as repayments of loans / return of capital / dividend
Analyzes financial information to ensure adherence to standards which may include the following: ledgers and preparation of journal entries, investment and real estate accounting, preparation of trial balances / financial statements, account reconciliation, net asset value computation, etc.
Address ad-hoc requests from internal stakeholders
Use appropriate judgment in dealing with unexpected issues and requests, demonstrating an ability to prioritize work
Participates actively in the realization of the team/department objectives
Participate in projects as assigned to develop and implement new systems and products
Prepare accounting models for acquisitions, asset transfers and capital transactions
Co-ordinate Balance Sheet and FSRT sign offs with the business units for Investments BU.
Prepare/update existing documentation of key processes and controls. Implement and validate changes to accounting procedures and update documentation to ensure operational objectives and standards are met.
Provides support to setup, reorganize and wind-up of subsidiaries, as needed
Train, supervise and provide ongoing guidance to offshore team.
Review and approve the tasks/processes assigned to offshore team
Required Qualifications:
University degree in Finance or Accounting
Completion of or working towards a recognized accounting designation (CPA) will be considered an asset
Good knowledge of information systems and Microsoft Office suite
A minimum of three (3) years’ experience in accounting and finance, including planning, analysis and financial reporting
A thorough knowledge of accounting and finance principles
Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present financial analysis to management is essential
Ability to work effectively as part of a team and individually
Demonstrate initiative and take responsibility
Detailed oriented with a high level of accuracy
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability to react quickly, adapt to changes and meet tight deadlines
Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Salary range is expected to be between
$73,725.00 CAD - $122,875.00 CADEmployees also have the opportunity to participate in incentive programs and earn incentive compensation tied to business and individual performance.
