Description

[What the role is]

Join a team reimagining the future of our digital services. We are transforming OneMotoring into an intelligent Digital Shopfront that makes every interaction simpler, faster, and more delightful. Powered by AI, it will thoughtfully augment how digital services are designed, delivered and experienced, creating the next-generation platform that keeps your world moving.

As Principal Developer, Platforms, you will build the capabilities that enable us to co-develop solutions with vendors, set the engineering standard across the platform, and keep it reliable after go-live. You will be the team’s technical backbone in delivery.

[What you will be working on]

What You’ll Do

  • Build the platform core: Develop the internal tooling, integration middleware, and shared services that connect the Digital Shopfront to the wider ecosystem. Work with the team to translate architecture and designs into working software.

  • Platform reliability lead: Design and oversee the CI/CD pipelines, container infrastructure, and observability stack that keep the platform stable. Confidently deploy logging, metrics, and alerting to resolve issues quickly and prevent incidents.

  • Review vendor code: Set and uphold the engineering bar for vendor-delivered software. Review pull requests, architecture decisions, and test coverage, and provide clear guidance when quality, security, or maintainability falls short.

  • Apply AI where it fits: Build practical AI capabilities across the platform, from smart feedback to AI-assisted workflows. Develop production-ready prompt pipelines and structured outputs that are reliable, useful, and easy to maintain.

  • Design for scale and security: Make infrastructure decisions that keep the platform fast and secure as usage and integrations grow. This includes LLM token management, caching, database performance, rate limiting, and performance optimisation.

  • Champion technical investment: Argue for the prioritisation of solving technical debt, even when it competes with visible feature work. Help stakeholders understand the value of building the right foundations early.

[What we are looking for]

  • You have 7+ years of experience as a senior or principal engineer, with a track record of building and operating production systems, not just shipping features.

  • You have strong full-stack development experience in Python alongside a modern frontend framework. You are comfortable owning a system from design to deployment.

  • You have hands-on experience with CI/CD, containerisation and cloud infrastructure. You know how to bring a system online reliably and securely.

  • You know how to correctly deploy observability tools, including logging, tracing, and metrics dashboards. You use them to spot and solve problems before users report them.

  • You have experience integrating hybrid and legacy systems. You can lead middleware and API design so legacy systems can be safely integrated into modern platforms.

  • You can lead application security management, leading compliance, and threat assessment in a zero-trust secure application design. You lead with security by design.

  • You understand how AI is deployed in production systems, including LLM integration into an embedded software system and common integration points.

  • You are particular about technical excellence and doing things right. You look beyond passing an automated test to find solutions that are simpler, faster, and easier to maintain.

  • Prior experience in the Singapore public sector or highly regulated environments and familiarity with enterprise platform / product delivery at scale will be an advantage.

As part of the shortlisting process for the role, you may be required to complete a medical declaration and / or undergo further assessment.
