Animal Emergency & Specialty Center of Chattanooga is seeking a Board-Certified Surgeon or Residency-Trained Veterinarian to join our growing surgery service within a collaborative emergency and specialty hospital.

This is an exciting opportunity for a surgeon who wants more than a clinical role. You’ll have the opportunity to help grow and shape our surgical service, manage a diverse and complex caseload, collaborate with emergency and specialty clinicians, and mentor veterinarians and interns in a supportive, team-oriented environment.
  • Build the service: Play a key role in developing and expanding our surgery program.
  • Leadership opportunities: Equity and leadership pathways are available for qualified candidates.
  • Advanced surgical medicine: Practice with access to CT, ultrasound, endoscopy, transfusion medicine, ICU monitoring, and fully equipped surgical suites.
  • Collaborative specialty team: Work alongside specialists in surgery and oncology and a growing team of emergency clinicians.
  • Diverse caseload: Manage challenging soft tissue and orthopedic surgical cases with strong emergency and critical care support.
  • Mentorship: Help mentor emergency clinicians, interns, and other veterinarians while contributing to a culture of clinical excellence.

Our ideal candidate:

  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree or equivalent
  • DVM (or equivalent) from an accredited veterinary school
  • Active veterinary license in Tennessee (or ability to obtain – we cover state licensure transfer fees)
  • Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Surgeons (DACVS) or residency-trained and board-eligible in veterinary surgery
  • Passion for advanced, high-quality medicine
  • Strong communicator with a professional, team-oriented approach
  • Interest in mentorship, collaboration, and clinical excellence


About Our Hospital:

  • A 6,180-square-foot, state-of-the-art facility providing advanced emergency and specialty care
  • A team of Specialists in Oncology and Surgery, and a cohesive group of nine (and counting) Emergency Clinicians
  • A skilled team of Licensed Veterinary Technicians and support staff (4 to 1 Veterinary Technician to DVM Ratio)
  • A dedicated leadership team including a Hospital Administrator, a Director of Clinical Staff, and a Client Service Supervisor
  • Practice advanced ECC medicine with access to CT imaging, ultrasound, endoscopy, ICU monitoring, transfusion medicine, and fully equipped surgical suites to support complex case management
  • Specialized equipment including Snyder oxygen cages, canine/feline transfusions, LigaSure, PoliPhase sealant, and GIA stapler
  • 24/7 patient monitoring and critical care
